The PFA announces each Division's team of the year towards the end of April. Last season the team was as follows: GK - David De Gea (Manchester United) RB - Hector Bellerin (Arsenal) CB - Toby Alderweireld (Tottenham Hotspur) CB - Wes Morgan (Leicester City) LB - Danny Rose (Tottenham Hotspur) Mid - Riyad Mahrez (Leicester City) Mid - N'Golo Kanté (Leicester City) Mid - Dele Alli (Tottenham Hotspur) Mid - Dimitri Payet (West Ham) CF - Jamie Vardy (Leicester City) CF - Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur) This year there are a lot more debatable choices. I thought that we could compile our own team and see how close we get to the real thing. I am assuming a 4-4-2 formation. I will put up one poll at a time and anyone is free to vote (non-Saints fans too). If you choose other please state their name and afterwards the player(s) with the most votes will be selected. Each vote will be open for 3 days. Let's start with the goalkeeper.
These sort of things are always too early for me. It's as if the last quarter of the season counts for nought. I would rather have stuff like this when the players are on holiday in July and we've got nothing to talk about. I mean, even less to talk about than when they go on International Breaks.
Well, I understand that it is strange that these things come around before the end of the season, however the PFA have these awards at the end of April and ballot much earlier. I wanted to discuss it, however if it is the wrong time for you, you don't have to take part !
Tom Heaton has had a great season and these awards are always open to interpretation in terms of who is the best player versus player in form. I went for best player, De Gea
My prediction: GK - Tom Heaton (Burnley) RB - Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur) CB - David Luiz (Chelsea) CB - Cesar Azpilicueta (Chelsea) LB - Danny Rose (Tottenham Hotspur) Mid - Oriol Romeu (Southampton) Mid - N'Golo Kanté (Chelsea) Mid - Dele Alli (Tottenham Hotspur) Forward - Sadio Mane (Liverpool) Forward - Romelu Lukaku (Everton) Forward - Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur)
Been waiting for the first Forster joke... I was going to do it but thought it might not be a great idea coming from me
Gone for courtois. Maybe not had a lot to do but always looks assured. Pickford has done ok for Sunderland and could be a prospect but behind Heaton in spectacular saves.
