    Is sakho any good?

Edit: for some reason this transfer reminds me of caulker. Please tell me he is better than caulker.

Given the cut price deal Liverpool got for Mane they should let us have Sakho for about 10m

Sometimes he is very good. Other times he is absolutely appalling. He does a lot of freelancing defensively, which means that if those around him are not paying close attention, large gaps will appear.

On Jose - I would have thought he'd be a good short term fix for City's defensive frailties.

I agree but i think they know their strategy and don't veer from it.

I'm starting to like them slightly more as a club...

I agree that a loan first would certainly be preferable. But I think it would have to come with the security of a certain permanent transfer, should we so wish. Otherwise there's too much of a risk in my mind that he'd just move elsewhere (more money etc) if he has a good five months.

It's a bit of a weird one. If wages were lower, and the transfer fee was lower (in the summer), then I'd be fairly up for him. I agree with your assessment of him - if someone, maybe us, could just get hold of him (as well as him getting hold of himself), he could be turned into something top class. Slightly similar to Koscielny - he looked half talented, half bambi-on-ice when Arsenal first signed him, but now he'd walk into almost any PL team (apart from only Spurs really). But his wages and his transfer fee are what they are. And I think that's just a little bit too much for me. Especially for a Fonte replacement (as opposed to a Virgil replacement).

you'll get no argument from me. I've been punching my own ears whenever it's played.

I could see him doing an excellent job defensively for them (in the short term of course). So no, I can't see them being interested.

I'm going to go out on a limb again abc say that it seems to me that Fonte has flattered to deceive over the last 12 months or so. He has had his brilliant games over that time, but I think he has been made to look good by those around him both at club level and internationally.

Regardless of whether that's the case or not (and I'd be extending "or so" to mean about three years), he'd be replacing Kolorov. Enough said.

I think Koscielny would walk onto the Spurs team too Brendy! Him and Alderweireld. Imagine.

And Sakho is no longer particularly young. He isn't old, either, but he's a soon-to-be 27 year old who still makes decisions that would earn a youth player a stern look. I don't think that he'd be bad alongside Virgil, but placed along a younger defender with some flaws of his own, the results might be catastrophic.

Any player that trains one on one in a room with hanging boxing bags whilst wearing boxing gloves must be good

He is looking good tonight, although he looks a bit like Peter Beardsley's bigger brother. Not the usual signing we make...

Lots of players being linked all of a sudden. Is this the club leaking false info as they're trying to sort a deal or two out?
