We should have got him in the summer before Celtic WHEN I SAID WE SHOULD HAVE GOT HIM.

    (Are you listening Les?)

I've been banging the Dembele drum for a long, long time.

I'd go for him this window too.

Celtic will always need (take) the money, they're out of Europe and let's be honest, they don't exactly need him to win the title.

I'm with you guys, he would be a great signing, I swear we all had this convo in the summer.

It does feel a little like we are going to save our money this window. (The rumours have all completely dried up.) There will be a huge meltdown if we don't buy anyone, but I actually think it may be the right decision. If we can't get our number one targets, I think we should wait. We won't go down - just rebuild for next season.

We need to replace Fonte and buy a forward still at minimum imo.

Relegation is very very unlikely at present. But if we were to sign no one and Virgil picked up a long term injury I would start to get very concerned.

I think we can add a physical DM and Cam to the dream wish list as well. If Oriol gets injured, our midfield looks very lightweight.

Dembele is now unrealistic. We missed the boat there.

Oh yeah. I said back in the Summer that after another striker that was my next priority.

Now Jose has gone though we certainly need a cb, and though all 4 of those positions would be nice, realistically it's not going to happen.

So for me, a cb, and one of a striker/cam is the minimum we need.

Edit- Fwiw, I'd include Romeu in the '****ting myself if picked long term injury up' category.

    Maybe.

Can't remember the last time a truly big club signed directly from the SPL though.

Yep, the reason why I think we may still have a chance of signing Dembele is that the big clubs that may be following with interest can just buy him from us once he's proven he can do it in the PL.

Rumours go quiet because we don't tell the press everything unlike Fonte's agent...

Does that not get what the player wants,it's good cop bad cop.
Player instructs his agent to make noise, get him what he wants or he goes, players have no emotional connection with the club,so they vote with their feet.
Club did what they felt was right, the player and his agent look after themselves.
As fans we will always get the ****ty end of the stick

It was a joke. All agents leak stuff, but we don't.

I'm not so sure this time. We still support Saints. Jose has to play for West Ham. :)

I do wonder if Reed has a 'profit on transfers,, related bonus in his contract

They must surely see that we are deficient in some key area, and have been for awhile

Reed must absolutely love it when his manager comes out and says he's happy with the squad, Reed must think good boy you're happy to continue struggling with what you've got and I'm even more happier I haven't got a manager banging on about buying someone.
Reason why Reed chooses managers whom won't challenge him on improving the squad.

I suspect that this is the public face of SFC - 'We are a united club, all pulling in the same direction, all wanting the same thing'.
Whereas behind closed doors the conversations are more likely to be
'We need strikers/a Fonte replacement, etc, so go and find someone, then haggle over the price'
People (at least those who care about Saints more than their public persona) are unlikely to make any disagreements public, no matter how bad the arguments are, in the boardroom.

I feel sorry for you mate, that's a pretty bleak world view you have there.

I doubt Puel is anybody's 'plaything'.

    Sorry about that!
Puel is Reeds puppet, Reed wants non confrontational managers.
Don't get me wrong I quite like Puel,I think he's got his hands tied and can only do what he can with what he's got. So I'm sorry that you disagree but the problem must lie somewhere and further up the chain it must go.
