Finished 2-0....getting a few results now. Good to see....you can say what you like about it all being about development, there is nothing like a few wins to raise morale.
These lads should be pushing on. There are half the team playing today that should be pushing to be going on the summer training with the first team
http://www.rovers.co.uk/news/articl...y-blackburn-rovers-sam-gallagher-3602355.aspx Tony Mowbray thinks highly of Gallagher. This loan is going well for Sam whether he returns or moves on.
http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2017/03/0...ally-scouted-southampton-owned-sam-gallagher/ Moyes has been said to have personally scouted Gallagher. Three million is the suggested price....though not clear whether that is a wild guess or an accurate price. If we don't have a place for Sam, it is our duty to help him and to set a realistic price which reflects our outlay on him...can always add a sell on clause. The next question is would Sunderland suit him....depending of course on who else is in for him. If Sunderland are relegated, they would be a reasonable force in the Championship. May very well suit Sam.
I'd be interested to see how he would do in the Premier League and I'd be happy for him to prove me wrong. It has been 3 seasons since I saw him for Saints in the PL so every chance he could have improved a lot, but for me he didn't look a PL striker. He's older and more experienced now. A season playing first team championship football could well be what he needed. Time will tell.
He has all the raw materials, it's been a rough couple of years with the loss of his father, injuries and a bad loan spell at MK. We've three young strikers in Gallagher, Seager and Barnes who are at the age where it's decision time in the summer. I see no harm in one of them being fourth choice and Jay moving on. With his height, Gallagher offers something a little different to the senior strikers
I see no harm either, I was just stating my opinion that, based on previous Premier League games, I didn't think he would make it at that level. I'll repeat also that I hope I am wrong.
He may not be ready for the EPL or us, but it is always possible that he is a slow developer who needs games and love....which he may be more likely to get in the lower leagues.
