Nice trip to a far flung destination then. Perfect with an FA cup game against Chelsea on the Monday night in between.
The plus side is that two of Lyon, Roma, Schalke and Borrusia Monchengladbach go out and they are the best four sides left in bar us.
JM has to focus on what the priority needs to be - a good run in the FA Cup or progress in the Europa League and a chance at a CL spot now the tougher sides are fighting themselves for a place in the last eight. I suppose it all comes down to our position in the PL when the games are played - if we have cemented a top four spot by then we can afford to field a strong side against Chelsea and give the FA Cup a strong go - time will tell.
Not a bad side to draw at this stage but the travel distance was exactly what JM didn't want. The FA match against Chelsea after a long travel becomes even more difficult but it is time for the players to show their mettle. The plus side is that United plays return leg at home so that any cock ups could in theory be retrieved.
They aren't a terrible side, but as long as we don't underestimate them we should be alright. Their pitch is dodgy which gives them an advantage at home so need to be prepared for that. They did spring one on Bayern, but even then they shipped two goals at home and only kept three clean sheets in 12 European ties this season. So we should be looking for an away goal or two to give us a cushion then we can focus on the Chelsea match.
