On a somewhat related note, ex-Saint Graeme Murty is currently caretaker manager for Rangers. Last night he did a backwards roll and headstand in his technical area out of exasperation. Weirdest thing I've ever seen:

Are there a number of "St Mirren" supporters here who love to see the "Old Firm" clubs fall flat on their faces?

There are a number of St Mirren fans. That number was around about 26 last time I watched any Scottish Football :)

On Sky, saying that Rangers hoped to announce their director of football today or tomorrow (presumed to be Ross Wilson), but now expect a delay so have extended their deadline. Make of that what you like.

Ah yes, that's probably where they've offered the position to Wilson and he's turned them down, to their utter shock. :)

On the other hand. If he is to leave for Rangers then he goes with my best wishes. He's done brilliantly.

Not sure in what universe Saints lose members of staff to Rangers.

It's a promotion and a return home...the latter may interest him. Perhaps he can't take the heat here.<laugh>

Having lived in Southampton and Glasgow, the prospect of moving back up to Glasgow would necessitate a substantial increase in salary as I know where I would rather live

I know Glasgow has improved a lot since the early 1980's but back then I went upto Scotland to walk a few of the Munroes. Inevitably I drove through Glasgow, and stopped to look at the city. My mate remarked to me that the best view of the place was in the rear view mirror. Had to agree.

It's improved massively. There are definite no-go areas (the same is pretty much true of London, New York, Paris etc) - but the centre is safe and the architecture stunning. Also got one of the best music / arts scenes out of any UK city.

It's not a patch on Edinburgh, though :emoticon-0115-inlov

    Tough call for him.
A big club with a lot of prestige and as Fran said a promotion
But, Rangers don't appear to be the most stable of clubs and the owner is notorious.

He's probably going to have a chat with Les.

Ross: Les, let's be honest, how many years do you want to remain in the front line here.?
Les: So that's the way of the wind is it.?
Ross: Well, I'd like to know because you know that I know how to do your job.
Les: That might be so, but I'm still enjoying myself at the moment. Have you spoken with Freddie.?
Ross: Ralph wants me to stay. I want to stay. Do you want me to stay.?
Les: Yes, of course. And if you're patient you will become Director of Football here one day.
Ross: Thanks for not making my decision any easier, Les.

The chat is more likely to do with money.

Paul Mitchell (who had Ross' job beforehand) has now left Spurs at the end of his notice period.

Rangers want to speak to him too!

The Echo are portraying that we're set to retain him, which is good news if so...

He is the next best man to take over Les Reeds role once he retires.
