The 25-year-old had missed two months of the season prior to his return in the draw with Liverpool at the start of the year and he impressed again in the stalemate with Burnley in the FA Cup. Moyes says the Black Cats will definitely benefit from his return to the side as he will take some responsibility in the middle of the park. The boss told the Gazette: “I thought Jack played as well as anybody. “He was still running out of a bit of steam with 20 minutes to go, but hopefully we’ll be able to build his fitness levels back up over the coming weeks. “I think Jack’s definitely getting it back.“He had two or three attempts at goal and passed the ball relatively well. “There were some good moments and we need him. “We’re needing someone to take a bit of responsibility in the middle of the pitch for us and Jack’s just beginning to do a bit of that.” Read more at: https://www.clubcall.com/sunderland/rodwell-return-boost-1836757.html
Totally agree... he was the stand out performer for me at the weekend. Just needs to re-align the sights on his shooting boots
I'm going to start having a 5a on every game now. 1-0 Sunderland, Rodwell to score. It's coming, I'm telling ya'll
There's a decent footballer in him somewhere, i just hope Moyes can bring it out of him cos sure as **** we need everyone we can get.
Absolutely. He's not as bad as a lot are suggesting though and has become a scapegoat for many. Hoping he'll turn a corner and we'll see the player we all hoped we'd signed when we got him. He likes a tackle, he's a decent passer, can shoot (I've seen him hit some pretty good goals in his early career) and isn't slow - he has the attributes and we see glimpses of them from time to time but not all at once for a sustained period - hopefully that period starts now
Plus side on the injury front - only another 2 months until Cattermole picks up another one and misses the rest of the season....
I was really hoping the England International Rodwell would return under Moyes. It may be underway as Anchibe seems to be reinvented under his old boss. Still early days but.....KTF
Don't forget he's arguably the best headerer of the ball we have in the squad. Some people just love to have a scapegoat, though.
Sad really ,,,, been similar all my life we're in a perpetual sleeping giant underperforming syndrome - groundhog day style
Same here, mate. He's threatened a few times to go on a good run of form and really show us that he can be a top player. Hopefully with Moyes knowing him better than any of our previous managers, he can start to get the best out of him. I've always maintained there's a very good player in there. I think not getting that first win under his belt is massive psychologically and once that gets put to bed he'll continue to grow as a player for us.
