Seems we do unfortunately. I'd rather we were trying to hijack Costa's move to China but if we're looking at players at the very bottom of the barrel Keane might actually be ok.
Not me, mate. He's 36, was never as good as Defoe and he's been playing in America for about 5 years. He might be alright for a season in the Championship/League 1. I wouldn't fancy him to do anything in the Premier league, though.
I have no problem with us bringing in out of contract players at all but there have to be some better options on this list than Robbie Keane and Joleon Lescott http://www.transfermarkt.com/statistik/vertragslosespieler#
I would class Keane as a finisher - we've already got one of those (and a better one at that) - what we desperately need is a creator. There's little point in Keane coming in if he's not going to get any service.
In their day they were as good as one another, Keane was a fantastic forward wherever he went. Years Team Apps (Gls) 1997–1999 Wolverhampton Wanderers 73 (24) 1999–2000 Coventry City 31 (12) 2000–2001 Inter Milan 6 (0) 2001 → Leeds United (loan) 18 (9) 2001–2002 Leeds United 28 (4) 2002–2008 Tottenham Hotspur 197 (80) 2008–2009 Liverpool 19 (5) 2009–2011 Tottenham Hotspur 41 (11) 2010 → Celtic (loan) 16 (12) 2011 → West Ham United (loan) 9 (2) 2011–2016 LA Galaxy 125 (83) 2012 → Aston Villa (loan) 6 (3) National team 1998–2016 Republic of Ireland 146 (68) But I agree I think that he is somewhat past it!!!
That would be my main concern about signing him, I guess he'd be on the bench because otherwise how would he fit into our team.
Er just like 1977, 85, 87, 91, 97, 2003, 2006 my years as a supporter. But 1977 was amazing I remember the team really turning it around, winning at home 6-0, 6-1, 4-0 I was sure we would stop up back then, but drew with the mags and lost the dreaded Coventry and that team was a great bunch of players, playing on clarty pitches not bowling green types nowadays. There should be some sort of award for us for suffering for nearly 40 years, yet I still love the club and will be spurring us on (excuse the pun) against Spurs a week on Tuesday.
He was playing in the same league as Keane and he made the switch to the prem alright did he not? If Keane was worthless he wouldn't have scored 80 odd goals in 120 odd games. I know the league is a poor standard but if he's fit as a fiddle and scoring bags of goals I don't see why he may as well retire. I reckon quite a few people wrote Defoe off saying he's past it and plays in a **** league. I'd like to see you inform Ibra he's too old to be playing football any more. Pointless discussing it anyway, I don't believe any rumours until they sign.
Ability, athletism(sp), playing in top leagues may prove a vital role Keane is a hasbeen. Linked on here since day one. No thanks
As compared to Keane? I actually didnt like defoe. But a whole different planet to this (hopefully ) nonsense rumour
Hopefully the rumour about the 17 mil midfielder is true and the Keane and Lescott ones aren't but I ain't holding my breath haha.
