Actually he was a big drinking buddy of mine back in the late 70's when he was at Cambridge United and Ron Atkinson was the manager. On Xmas Day (I think it was 78), we had a lock in at our local. Me and Biley got absolutely **** faced and rolled out of the pub at 5:30 on Boxing Day morning. Biley was throwing up all over the place and was playing for Cambridge in an 11:30 kick off. He turns up for the game and tells Atkinson he's been up all night with a stomach bug and can't play. Atkinson says he gets out there and plays and if he doesn't then he gets fined a fortnights wages. Biley went out there, scored a first half hat trick, threw up in the dressing room at half time and was substituted, left the ground, retuned to the pub and started on the rum again. Happy days.
I wonder how much Jimmy Greaves drank during his footballing days.I believe Alan Gilzean used to hit the hard stuff too......
PSG have announced their major signing of the season...an eSports team. Has somebody explained to them that a League of Legends World Cup (yes, such a thing exists) is not going to be counted on their official list of honors? Soon we'll have Wenger announce they signed an Overwatch team, although soon people will question why he didn't sign a single offence, defence or tank character and instead brought in four Symmetra mains.
The Mirror's headlie tomorrow reads "Manchester United 'Ready To Waive Wayne Rooney transfer fee' to seal stunning return to Everton" Might it not also read "Wayne Rooney Worth Nothing"
Someone mentioned him going to West Ham.unlikely.He probably has a few bars to support in Liverpool......
Not only does it seem unlikely that you'll get a fee, there's a pretty good chance that United might have to subsidise his wages if he doesn't go to China. He's obviously got no future at United and everyone knows it. He's on £300k per week for 2 more years? So, he could cost you £30m for no benefit whatsoever. Would you pay him £10-15m to save £15-20m? I reckon you'd have to if he says he'll only go to Everton for the same money. When Adebayor played for Palace, he was still getting paid by City, let alone us. The more you pay a player you don't want, the harder he's going to be to get rid of as nobody that can afford his wages will want him either.
AFAIK, the above thing from Citeh would be illegal, so it couldn't have been as wages (a set of annual contributions into his charities perhaps) .
