Gabbiadini, the bloke that put it into the net.

Have you actually heard anyone else say that was a correct call?

Not heard him but the linesman obviously thought it was.
Are you really of the opinion that a man running towards the goal line to receive a cross and hopefully score wasn't interfering with the defenders or de Gea's decisions?

Same person you would have blamed as a Spurs fan.

As in "interfering with play", what would you say he was doing there?
You do know this rule was introduced to stop players out near the corner flag being waved off side when the ball is in the box, if Gabiadini had missed that ball where would it have gone?

He's not interfering with play under the current interpretation.
Look at Chelsea's first goal against Swansea yesterday:

Hazard (10) is clearly in an offside position, but he's not blocking the keeper's view of the ball and makes no attempt to play it.
That means that he's not committing the offence under the current interpretation.

That's because Fabregas went for goal and didn't pass the ball towards him <doh>

That's not the rule any more.
I've noticed that a lot of your arguments on here about decisions are just outdated.
Bertrand doesn't interfere with play under the current interpretation of the rule.

Ok, I will just carry on with the opinion of the professionals though if that's alright with you. Bar room lawyers get people in trouble more often than help :emoticon-0100-smile

Ok, let's go with the opinion of a "professional", then:

    GRAHAM POLL'S VIEW...
A Bright start for Southampton was spoiled by assistant referee Stuart Burt, who incorrectly indicated that Manolo Gabbiadini was in an offside position when he scored.

Replays showed that the Italian was in fact onside when the ball was crossed. Ryan Bertrand was standing in an offside position but he was not interfering with play.

The law has been changed to be very specific and states that a player in an offside position should only be penalised if he plays the ball or interferes with an opponent.

    Happy now?

I will ask again, is a man running in on the goal and expecting a cross to reach him interfering with play or opponents (as in decision making).
Gabiadini was not off side but that is not why the goal was disallowed, Bertrand was off side and most definitely part of the play.
