Rivalry code - the Liverpool Manchester rivalry is deeper than football. In the footballing realm, all scouse football fans followed the same code on that until relatively recently - and I can't state when - but EFC made a pact with the red devils. Don't know why, just know you joined forces in your hatred of LFC. Again relatively recently the red/blue scouse rivalry became very bitter, mostly from your side, maybe as you say because we are doing better as a club.

Results - Our disinterest in you isn't about the results, it's a general disinterest. Similarly your hatred of us doesn't stop at results, it spreads over anything and everything to do with the club. It's a bit weird <laugh>

Sorry but that's absolute nads imo mate, you lot didn't hate City before they won the lottery, there wasn't a rivalry that was 'deeper than football' between City and Liverpool, therefore that makes the United / Liverpool rivalry virtually entirely about football.

The idea that Everton have made a 'pact' with United is just bitter reds not getting why our rivalry with them doesn't carry the same level of bile spitting animosity that the Liverpool fans have for United. There's absolutely no love lost between Everton and United, but they're not our arch rivals, as they're 30 miles up the road, you lot are, as you're across the park.

Your 'disinterest' in Everton is that for a long span we weren't operating on the same level, albeit in the last decade you've been largely bobbing around with us in the 'also ran' category. You lot made the United game the biggest game of your season, I think that's in no small part due to the fact that a large proportion of your match going and these days internet fanbase isn't from Liverpool, so the historical local rivalry doesn't hold the same importance to many of your fans. For years Uniteds biggest game of the season was Arsenal for the same reasons, with City either not being in the same division or even if they were not operating at the same level as United.

You hated the fact that in the Fergie era United kept winning titles and eventually overtook your 18, with you lot not having won one for the best part of 30 years that made it worse.

I've felt the same dislike for yoonited since the post Busby era began, Fergies success hurt but the feeling was the same as ever for me.
The beginning of the bad feeling between us and them coincided with the advent of gang fighting and football violence, I remember they got banned from playing at OT because their fans were throwing knives at opposition fans, they played one home game at Anfield and there was mayhem and fighting all over town.

For the record I've never had the same level of dislike for city as yoonited but I still don't like the ****s.
I don't now or never have "hated" Everton.

Your first paragraph deals entirely with football when I said the Liverpool Manchester rivalry was far deeper than football - bit confused there  The two cities have a deep rivalry going back many, many years.

Our football rivalry with utd has increased as we are the 2 most successful teams so that was always going to happen with whichever team we were running close to. Other than Everton which is THE fixture every year and always has been regardless of our standings, we have no deep rivalry with anyone. EFC fans [the ones in my family and ones I know] concur on it being both our biggest games. You don't have the rivalry with utd that we have because you haven't ever competed with them like we have but don't give me the 'no love lost' argument <laugh> EFC fans are all over social media when we play utd offering their support to them, it happened last October when a win for utd against us, would put them above you <laugh>

Exactly, if the issue is about the geography and the Manc vs Scouser issue, then why have you lot never hated City? We never hated City either in the main, so it's primarily a football rivalry.

A few beauts on twitter wanting United to beat you lot as they know how much it hurts when you lose to them, doesn't mean that we have some form of a pact with them <laugh>

I reckon if you stuck a poll on a major Liverpool forum and asked which game is the biggest of your season, the derby wouldn't come out on top, especially with non Scouse reds.

You're still a bit confused on the rivalry thing. Scousers and mancs haven't got along for years not just footballwise. The two cities have a deep dislike for each other. Scousers older than me - yes there are some <laugh> - can tell you all kinds of tales dating back to issues over the ship canal. I can't stand the manc accent no matter which team they support.

Now the football. Before the great rivalry began between Liverpool and utd, based solely on success, Liverpool fans disliked city every bit as much as utd because they are both in Manchester. That still applies. The rivalry grew stronger against utd more than city, had it been city who were the more successful, then that's where our rivalry would have grown. Both manc teams were disliked equally just as all 'cockney' teams were. Rivalries have grown as we've seen other teams try and challenge us. Chelsea fans think we have a great rivalry with them, we don't.

The pact comment was a joke btw :bandit:

The derby will always be the biggest game.
