Does anyone know if I can buy rissoles anywhere in Sunderland. Maybe a local butcher or deli. My Ma used to make them, corned beef and tatey in the shape of a hamburger which you fry and eat with pickled onions and git loads of bread.
Went into a cafe and asked for piss hole and chips the waitress said that's not a p its an r ok then I will have arse hole and chips then.
Never knew they were called Rissoles. We used to have them fairly regularly, don't think I've had corned beef of any sort for about 20 years now - used to love it and now pretty sure it would not live up to my expectations.
When I was in the Army there was a Corps called the Royal Army Service Corps, RASC. This was often changed to Rissoles, Arse'oles, Sausage and Chips. Today I boiled up a load of taties and put some unnions in together with a couple of tins of stewed steak. I got 13 'rissole' type of things out of that lot. Yummy.
