Sad news that young Bradley Lowery has lost his battle with cancer today. A very brave young man who packed so much into his far too short years. Thoughts with his family and friends and all those who played a part in helping him live life to the full.

So sad but at least there is no more suffering. My thoughts to go his family and no doubt Jermaine Defoe will be in a bad place tonight. R.I.P. little un'

    RIP little guy

Yeah, I'm sure Defoe must be feeling it - got to say, considering how much bad press footballers normally get, it's nice to see someone like Defoe offering something totally genuine and clearly heartfelt to the little lad.

Bless him, life can be bloody cruel at times.

At least he got to spend his time on the earth inspiring people and that smile.....that smile melts your heart like butter because of what we now know. His little innocent mind would not have ever known!

    Football comes second!

RIP little man, it's devastating news regardless of the fact it was expected sooner rather than later. Feel so sorry for his family to have such an inspirational little fella snatched away from them at such a young age. He has touched the hearts of millions who will all be feeling something of some sort which they will hopefully take some small comfort from. Hopefully SAFC will see fit to honour his name in some way shape or form.

All of what everyone has already written I agree with.

Parents should never have to bury their children and even when expected it will hit them hard. Thoughts are particularly with them.

    RIP Bradley.

I think they should all play the first game of the season with Bradley on the back of their shirts instead of their own name. With Defoe as the club mascot.

    Excellent suggestion.

Would also suggest mixing up the two teams as well so that there is no tribal rivalry just a game of football played by classic legends in the right spirit and for a good cause.

Young Bradley touched us all. He and his family displayed so much courage.
Thank you Defoe for your strength during this very difficult time.

    RIP Bradley.

Nice to see him wearing a sunderland shirt with "from nufc" on it.

Conflict is the biggest issue humanity faces, and it's this sort of things that gives you hope for humanity. Deep down we all want love and if we can just learn to do this more often, we can eventually learn to treat the preservation and the celebration of life as our top priorities over everything else.

All other desires and wants should be a bonus. Compromise, sacrifice, swallow pride - Do whatever it takes to preserve and value life of all forms.
