According to CL and a source at Rotherham. The rats deserting the sinking ship? Someone said he was the brains of the Robinson/Baker combintion, which may make Southend especially painfull.
All day long, should the Belgians still be around next season. On second thoughts, it would be a terrific hoot if they sacked the scouser today and appointed him for the new bounce effect
Perhaps Lardiman can check this out but.... my impression is that Robinson's CAFC performed better prior to Baker arriving?.... but haven't got any facts to back that up.... over to you Lardi my boy
I'm not sure it takes much brains to get relegated, and sacked from the job when leading them to another relegation, getting another job and leading them to relegation.
No problem! Karl Robinson's record before & after Richie Barker joined Charlton... BEFORE ... 3rd Dec to 17th Dec (Robinson joined CAFC 24th Nov but did not manage his first game until 3rd Dec) ... 2 x League 2 x FA Cup AFTER ...... 20th Dec to present ... 20 x League Win = 0 ... Draw = 2 ... Lose = 2 ... BEFORE ... 01 points from possible 06 (17%) 0.50 points per game ... 00 wins from possible 04 (00%) Win = 4 ... Draw = 7 ... Lose = 9 ... AFTER ...... 19 points from possible 60 (32%) 0.95 points per game ... 04 wins from possible 20 (20%) EDIT: I have corrected an error in the stats I posted earlier (surprised nobody spotted it!) Robinson only took 1 point from his two League games before Barker arrived, not 2 points as I posted before. Including the FA Cup games confused me a bit... This means that Robinson's form has actually improved since Barker arrived! But from a very low starting point. With 50 points (from 46 games) as the recognised minimum target to avoid relegation in the EFL, less than 1 point per game is relegation form.
If Barker goes, that tees it up nicely for Chris O'Nobody (ex DR Congo & AS Vita). Robinson has got more coaches than Valley Express.
You've set me off now, there'll be no stopping me... Just for comparison I have added Russel Slade's record and that of caretaker manager Kevin Nugent... SLADE ....... 6th Aug to 14th Nov ... 16 x League, 1 x FA Cup, 4 x EFL Cup NUGENT ... 14th Nov to 26th Nov ... 3 x League ROBINSON BEFORE BARKER JOINS... 3rd Dec to 17th Dec (KR joined CAFC 24th Nov but managed first game 3rd Dec) ... 2 x League, 2 x FA Cup ROBINSON AFTER BARKER JOINS ..... 20th Dec to present ... 20 x League Win = 5 ... Draw = 9 ... Lose = 7 ... SLADE ........... 19 points from possible 48 (40%) 1.19 points per game ... 05 wins from possible 21 (24%) Win = 2 ... Draw = 1 ... Lose = 0 ... NUGENT ....... 07 points from possible 09 (78%) 2.33 points per game ... 02 wins from possible 03 (67%) Win = 0 ... Draw = 2 ... Lose = 2 ... KR BEFORE ... 01 points from possible 06 (17%) 0.50 points per game ... 00 wins from possible 04 (00%) Win = 4 ... Draw = 7 ... Lose = 9 ... KR AFTER ...... 19 points from possible 60 (32%) 0.95 points per game ... 04 wins from possible 20 (20%)
From Dr Kish Robinson's assistant, Richie Barker, is being strongly linked with a move to Rotherham. Barker is thought to want to move back into management, though it seems likely he would only be on the coaching staff at the New York Stadium. Barker was born in the area, so the Rotherham job is likely to appeal to him. The move could happen swiftly, and he may be gone before Southend visit The Valley on Saturday. Robinson has used Johnnie Jackson in a coaching capacity, and the skipper could become more involved with the team's preparation if Barker does move on.
Sounds as if Barker's stay could be as short as that Dutch Assistant Manager we had about 2 years ago!
