Reading some of the comments.. All to play for with Rafa in the relegation mix. Could be toughest assignment yet for him. Guess, this season we will see a team with 40+ pts getting relegated.
... and why Leicester aren't on the list is now self evident...and the world is a far, far better place ...
@candyman Why don't you quote anyone who said "Yeah, Poch is going to have Spurs challenging for the title?" I'll save you the trouble - no one did. It's no secret that I didn't rate Poch, at the time of his appointment. Quite a few of us didn't. We had a debate about him, at the time of his appointment, on our board. Whilst a few of us had a fairly good idea just how strong our youth development was, none of us foresaw the influence that Poch would have in bringing the program forward so quickly. I doubt even the club foresaw that. However, you will also find quotes from me backing Poch, last season, when we failed to make top 4, praising him for what he was doing with our youth, and saying that his work in that regard more than justified his remaining in charge. In other words, my views on Poch changed rather quickly when I began to see and understand what he was doing. Why would anyone doggedly stick to the same view of someone after that someone proves himself to be worthy of a different, better opinion?
Huh? What, because we have a manager who has taken us all by surprise, and revived the fortunes of the club? Yeah, I'm in real pain, Bambi.
just found this, care to comment, it's a couple of posts after you said you didn't rate Poch as he started his second season.
I don't see much wrong with that, to be honest, Ern. It's true, we are still waiting to see if West Ham's season is a fluke. If it turns out not to have been a fluke (by you repeating this season for the next couple of seasons), then my point will have been answered. The problem that some of the more juvenile among you seem to suffer from is that you are seeing "wum" in everything I say, which is completely wide of the mark.
er, no. You stated we were "in trouble already", yet the lowest we have been is 11th, for 1 week. you've also stated elsewhere you changed you opinion on Poch very early, yet, as can be seen, you clearly didn't at all.
Interesting form of English they teach at Cambridge, to most speakers of the language those sentences are fairly self explanatory
One thing I have learned, Ern, is that the rich complexity of our wonderful language allows for much debate and interpretation. I rely on that fact. It's a major weapon in my extensive wum-arsenal.
except, of course, the meaning of 'the spanners are in trouble already, as I predicted' only a fool would try and debate it had any other meaning than that the hammers were in trouble by mid September, just as the writer, you, predicted. but please, continue to debate the meaning of a sentence, although now would probably be a good time for you to play the Picard of defeat
It depends on what you mean by "already," Ern. I sense that we're going round in circles, here, a little bit.
yep, exactly, you've tried to argued a losing point by making new meanings for words, choose your 'already' definition from the list, which one are you trying to apply?
