Err, shouldn't they do that at the start of the season, or at least do random checks through the season to make sure? Wonder if Renault and Red Bull technicians will be allowed to oversee the inspection
The daft thing is, if they found anything wrong with one of the engines, the FIA then have to prove that all the units are the same and that they were used throughout the season. Practically impossible. I just don't get why they have waited until now? The horse hasn't just bolted out of the stable, it's over the fence and into the next valley................
I do love that it's Merc and Ferrari not all PU suppliers. If I remember correctly it was Ferrari who vetoed the PU price cap and Merc who Red Bull thought they had a PU supply deal with! Coincidence? I think not.
If they are not the same and it's a not a part changed by tokens, then I guess that would solve the problem?
Is it to do with the post sensor fuel reservoirs? If so that could make Renault 2015 WCC. Good job Renault.
No, think they sorted all that out long ago. Let's face it though, are the FIA really going to DSQ every Mercedes & Ferrari (2015 spec only, go Manor!!) engine team EVEN IF they ever found an infringement? Of course not. Reckon it's just Bernie trying to create some headlines to ensure people keep an interest in F1 after the season has finished.
Horner just said red bull have an engine contract for 2017 but can't say who it is but it's pretty obvious from speculation. I.e It's VW (or audi/porche etc) confirmed
Oh missed that bit, was in and out of kitchen making bacon butties Cheers, I agree will be VW of one sort of another. Well Red Bull developed engine sponsored by VW/Audi.
And to prove my point, pick the nuts out of Hamilton's latest gem http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/34985147
Brilliant. We'll use Renault engines but just to show the size of our testacles we will allow a watchmaker to sponsor them to save face. What a load of absolute bollocks. i bet they've been crying out for a stopwatch and the Renault factory and design Departments. Said no one, absolutely ever.
What I would like to see is Renault doing a counter poster campaign with a load of Renault engineers with tools in hand, huddled around a watch on a workbench. 'Our watch is 2 seconds faster'
That was an impressive race for RBR at a track I didn't expect them to do well in. After the much publicised spat with Renault, and the opinions people had, does the result in China go some way to vindicate them?
They were very quick in China and the Renault engine already looks like it's made a step in power. I'm intrigued about the real upgrade in or around Canada. I don't think it vindicates RBRs behaviour last year but it could make a much more interesting battle at the front which is what we desperately need.
