They will develop the car until the end according to Sam Michael âThe rule changes for next year are quite small compared to what they would be in normal years, so most of the development work we do on this car will carry over to 2013 anyway. Weâre going to push to the end.â The lack of rule changes for next years will be music to Red Bulls ears given what they currently have.
Makes sense really, just want someone to take the fight to RedBull, like I did when McLaren won three straight recently... I'd like to go back to the early season form when anyone and everyone (from the top teams) was/could/would win..
Me too, it was much more exciting then as opposed to the current state of racing. The other top teams really need to step it up if they want to have any shot of catching Red Bull. They seem to finally have the outright best car again and unless things change it looks like they won't have much competition next season. I don't want Vettel walking away with another title dammit!
please log in to view this image Red Bull lowered their nose after Monza, completely going against the trend of having the nose as high as possible. Hopefully they'll lower the bulkhead next year and we'll get rid of the horrible stepped noses, not only are they unsafe and unsightly, they're also ineffective judging by Red Bull's change in form since lowering it. Saw this on F1technical: and I know the source is reliable. Also: http://www.yallaf1.com/2012/11/03/ferrari-queries-legality-of-red-bull-rb8-with-fia
But it shouldn't give the team a performance advantage, so it should be illegal. Should be, but isn't. Why cant' the reservoir be in a less critical position? RBR + bed = long sweet nights with the FIA.
Yeah, this has come up before and it still smells fishy. Thanks, Forza, for the reminder. Edit: Shouldn't Renault and their customers have sorted this problem out by now so that they no longer need a special dispensation? It was a long time ago when I first heard of this 'reliability' clause.
ist this still the same engine from 2006? The Renault was cheated out of performance with the new engine regs freeze
I remember both Ferrari 10' and Mercedes 11' gaining certain advantages for "reliability" so I'm very sure it evens out ASC, it isn't like they have a turbo charger under there or something.
3 days of testing for RBR, Lotus and McLaren and none for Ferrari, hopefully for me a few more cars can get in front of Alonso come Austin and finish this WDC.

How were Renault 'cheated' out of performance? They chose to design an engine that was torquey rather than with out and out power, the main reason why Renault's of the mid '00s were fantastic off the line and out of slow corners. The traction and engine response at lower revs was awesome. They only kicked off when RBR got involved and realised the straight line speed wasn't much cop so threw a hissy fit about the rules being unfair as the Renault's were deemed to be underpowered.
Renaults are more fuel efficient and can therefore start lighter on fuel. I'm surprised Ferrari didn't kick off to be allowed an update to "save the environment"
