If liverpool get linked with him, we'll end up getting about 30m for him

Anyone on here feel like at this present moment that getting Gradel to put pen to paper would feel like we signed a new player? And not just any new player, a big one? So many nerves!

Shaun Harvey is the waster to blame for all this contract nonsense. He must have some hold over several people in football, god knows how he keeps a job.

Well it would be nice on July the 1st tomorrow...if we laid our plans on the line and sign 4 quality players...

I dont care if they are a mix of free and actual cash...but the longer we wait the speculation builds regarding Max and Snoddy the worse it will get....

make max the offer....... and come clean on it that we have... Cut the bull.... we deserve better!

We do our business in private i get that...a good example kasper last season but come on ..........

    time to make the move...

I's been said before but why on earth have we waited until Max has 12 months left on his contract? We should have put pen to paper in January. Now he effectively can hold us to ransom - give me a big pay rise or sell me.

I really hope he says though. Leeds have made him the player he is and he shoudl repay the faith we've shown in him.

Donald, you should be ashamed. Woeful, woeful pun.

That is terrible! You've been chatting to Clivetime to much.

Is that the Reading who finished above us because we have such a poor manager? :)

If we get the right money for Gradel then we should sell. He's not irreplaceable. I actually rated Lloyd Sam as better at the start of the season, until Gradel came back in and was brilliant. He's greedy at times though, and makes the wrong decisions. If he leaves, provided we get a sizeable fee that can be reinvested and a quality replacement is brought in, I won't be devastated.

That being said, it's a lot of ifs and buts. With Grayson's record in the transfer market, I wouldn't have too much faith in a replacement.

Why can't we start contract negotiations earlier?!

I genuinely don't think there's a better winger we could get. I'm also suspicious that the money would largely go towards Phase Two of the East Stand scheme rather than Phase Two of the Getting Promoted scheme. Gradel, Snodgrass and Becchio are players I'd completely take off the market.

To me it sounds like they are off the market unless some manager loses his marbles and decides paying over the odds makes good sense.

Yeah, but you've got to accept there is a price that a club at our level couldn't refuse. I'd love him to stay, and I reckon he will because he's rated so highly by everyone and he feels he still owes the club something after the Bristol Rovers game. If a price of £5million + came in then we'd be mad not to consider it, only because his contract has a year left. If he signs a new contract - which he should have been offered atleast 6months ago - then we don't have to even consider any offers.
