I overslept today and missed the first half (but have seen the goal since). It would be fair to say that the better team lost today. Nevertheless, Rangers continue the winning run and retain the 7 point gap over Aberdeen.

Rangers are making the best use of the useless Winter break, with a 'non-friendly' away to the side currently 2nd in the Bundesliga. This should be a good and stern test-match for Rangers (and Leipzig !).

Sunday, 15/01/2017 : RB Leipzig 4-0 Rangers

That was a useful exercise against a team that has only dropped 1 point at home in the Bundesliga, to Borussia Dortmund. Leipzig played the pressing game (as predicted), which stifled Rangers' ability to set-up attacks. The same pressing game meant that Leipzig always had a free man or men to pass to, from which they then launched their attacks. There is much to be gleaned from this match and if the lessons are learnt, then this exercise will have served its purpose.

With both teams reduced to 10 men after 1st half sendings off, this game was open and entertaining. Maybe 10 v 10 should be the norm, more space and more chances(!).
Second half goals from Kenny Miller and Emerson Hyndman sealed it for Rangers.
Rangers are back up to 2nd after this result, but Aberdeen are just 2 points behind, with a game in hand.

This was no repeat of Rangers' last Tynecastle debacle, it was worse. Sometimes everything clicks for a team and the play in consequence is excellent. Tonight, that team was Heart of Midlothian and fair play to them for their performance, albeit aided by continual errors from Rangers, who were, to be frank, a shambles.
As the late Graham Taylor once said, 'Do I not like that'.

Once again Rangers went behind and had to chase the game. Lee Wallace equalised but despite continued late pressure, Rangers were foxed out today. Two points dropped and 2nd place lost on goal difference to Aberdeen, who won today.
