QPR travel to Cardiff knowing a win will secure promotion to the premier league for the first time in 16 years. The Championship leaders have been in the top two all season and it seems absurd to think that they will not go up, but a goalless draw at home to Derby on Monday has left them with some work still to do.

And it could not be much tougher. Cardiff are favourites to join QPR in the Premier League next season and have got their form back at just the right time. They come into this game looking for a fifth straight win and have scored at least two goals in each of their last six games.

QPR may be looking for revenge as the last time they faced Cardiff for a potential promotion, things were not to be as the 2002/03 Play-Off final ended in a 1-0 win for the bluebirds.

Defeat this time would not be as damaging for the west London side, who would still have a hefty advantage at the top with three games left. But a win in the Welsh capital, on St George's Day, would be a memorable way to return to the top flight after a 15-year absence.

    Head-to-Head
The sides have met 68 times, with QPR leading by 32 wins to 25.

QPR last did the 'double' over Cardiff in 2006/07. The late Ray Jones scored QPR's winner at Ninian Park that season. (R.I.P)

    Form
Cardiff have won their last four games, having not won a single game in March (D2, L2).
Dave Jones' side are undefeated in their last six matches, keeping clean sheets in the last two.

QPR have led the Championship for the last five months and have not been out of the automatic promotion places all season.
Rangers have kept clean sheets in four of their last five games (the exception being their shock 4-1 loss to S****horpe) and 24 clean sheets in all.

    Team News
Cardiff's leading scorer Jay Bothroyd has shaken off the groin injury he picked up against Sheffield United and is set to start.
Goalkeeper Tom Heaton, who has also been troubled by a groin injury, may return.
QPR defender Fitz Hall is fit again after missing Monday night's draw against Derby.
Kaspars Gorkss - who needed stitches in his head after colliding with a TV camera in that game - is also fit.

    Fact's of the day:

    QPR
They have the same number of points (83) as they did when they last won automatic promotion, from League One in 2003/04.
    Cardiff
The Sheepshaggers have had only one player (Darcy Blake) sent off in the Championship this season. Only Middlesbrough can match that.

Predictions for the big match. I'm going for a 3-2 win to the R's with a Taarabt wonderstrike and two Routledge beauties

    Agreed Tigerbaybluebird
That is not a very smart thing to do in a match thread between the teams
I'm sure it was just an error, done without thinking

I can't see the Rs getting anything from this. Cardiff are a team in form and we are having a wobble. 2-0 Cardiff.

I can see this being a very tight game.

Although Cardiff HAVE to come at us, I think we'll squeeze a draw out of them, and get promotion on monday!

Well pleased with that. We looked the most likely to nick it at the end.
