Liverpool have been drawn against 1899 Hoffenheim in the Champions League qualifiers. That's a big game for them. I can hear Klopp already. "United only qualified because they were playing a Dutch team, we are out because we are playing a Bundesliga team".
Barcelona are preparing to make a bid for England and Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli, 21, after selling Neymar for £200m. (Sunday Express) ...and Levy is getting prepared to have the shortest telephone conversation in football history!
Alli's Spurs team-mate Eric Dier, 23, has attracted interest from Bayern Munich and the Bundesliga champions are ready to make a £50m offer for the England midfielder. (Sun on Sunday) 1. Dier isn't for sale. 2. £50 million!
Chelsea have reportedly contacted Paris St-Germain defender Serge Aurier, 24, amid speculation he could join Manchester United. (Manchester Evening News) You can just see the panic at Chavs! Scout: "Boss! Mourhino has approached PSG for Aurier!" Conte: "Bring me the tap-up hot-line! I'm going direct to the player on this one!"
Thing is HIAG, Barcelona now have a **** load of cash to play with. We all know Levy is a selling chairman and Barca will be well aware of that. I wouldn't give too much credence to a story in the Express, so there might be nothing in it. But if Barca do come sniffing for any of your players, then Levy's eyes will light up with pound signs.
Levy is a very reluctant seller but sometimes accepts massive fees for the good of the club. It doesn't seem to have done us much harm: since Levy became our Chairman we have massively improved our league position. Only City have done the same amongst the top clubs.
