From todays' WOL: Likely Targets: Kenwynne Jones, Pavel Pogrebnyak, Matt Phillips, Chris Gunter, Sam Byram, Hal Robson Kanu, Scott Sinclair, Jonny Williams, Robert Huth, Nathaniel Chalobah. Poosibles: Adam Matthews, Park Ji Sung, Jay Rodriguez, John O'Shea, Darren Bent Highly Unlikely: Frank Lampard, Aaron Ramsey, Ryan Giggs, Andy Carroll, David Beckham, Nikica Jelavic Which of these would come? Which would we want, anyway? Discuss
There is a post on the QPR board to the effect that Bobby Zamora is a "Target"! That would not be a good bit of business if true.
Can't stand Huth I think he's a cheating bastard. The others don't do much for me either. No way in hell are we going to get any of those "highly unlikely" ones. They might as well have put Messi and Ronaldo on there.
To start us off: http://metro.co.uk/2013/04/18/cardiff-city-line-up-summer-transfer-for-ex-chelsea-forward-salomon-kalou-364060 Discuss.
Ffs. Moderating on a iPhone is a nightmare Just copied that Kalou thread to the ****ing Palace board - cant get to a laptop at the mo and cant seem to merge threads on this
New sticky up for transfers Will merge when I get home and can use the laptop, unless another mod can sort it out in the meantime.
There was a story in the mirror last month (friend sent me the link) saying we were lining up a 3mill bid for Ledley
I think we need: Target man, tricky winger and some defenders (maybe a prem quality CB and 2 fullbacks).
Is it just me that thinks we need to sign a quality goalkeeper? If Marshy gets injured ( please no) we must rely upon an untested back up.
you need to add adam le fondre to that list if the bbc gossip column is anything to go by. i'd welcome him with open arms
I always thought of Jay Bothroyd as a poor man's Zamora. Similar players, though Jay may be ahead on pure ability, just Zamora has a far better attitude. I'd take him.
Zamora is a better player but he has been rarely fit for the last year or so. I believe he is having more surgery at the end of the season which I guess may help or hinder, would appear to be a gamble I reckon.
We don`t need ex Cardiff players. Only Lampard, Carroll and Bent really damage teams at this level. jck
Myself and Mrs Ppbb are responsible for the first confirmed big money arrival of window - due at the start of the season. Timing eh? Obviously, we're chuffed as! but it will surely affect my ability to attend etc
Congrats Pont. I'd take Mackie in a heartbeat. Quality player who always look like he's trying, something uncommon in the QPR squad.
How about Phil Neville? Lots of experience to guide the side, cover a lot of positions, up for a free. He'll only last a season, but if his experience keeps you up then it'll be worth it. Grant Holt has fallen out of favour a bit at Norwich and is facing the arrival of a £8.5million striker to replace him - he's given us a lot of probs over the last two years. QPR will be facing a feeding frenzy for their players, they'll have to pretty much give players away to get them off their wage bill. Obviously, you have to be picky about which ones will fit into the team, but Zamora and Mackie are good calls, they have a couple of good centre mids who got squeezed out when they went for names too... Or maybe Rhodes from Blackburn? Will take a wedge, but prob wont be too bad on the wages front. Are there any other Championship players you'd like to snatch and take with you?
