05/02/17 Top 4 qualification for Premier League 2017/18 1 Bournemouth-------26 2 Middlesbrough------21 3 Leicester-------------21* 4 Swansea------------21* 5 Hull--------------------20 6 Crystal Palace------19 7 Sunderland----------19 *Play today Fantastic day for us yesterday as we maintained our position and held onto the final qualification spot without kicking a ball. Because of this today is virtually a free game with everything to play for and nothing to lose. Lose and there is little consequence but there are huge connotations if we get a result. Its almost like we've been given an extra game.
Perhaps we should start a drop Naughton thread for Leicester. Surely there must be someone in the U23`s who`s at least as good as him?

Bottom seven mini league (matches between each other to date) Teams P W D L GD Pts Middlesbrough 7 4 2 1 +6 14 Sunderland 7 4 0 3 +4 12 Palace 9 3 2 4 -4 11 Bournemouth 8 3 1 4 +2 10 Hull 7 3 1 3 -4 10 Swansea 7 3 0 4 -4 9 Leicester 7 2 2 3 0 8 We've beaten Palace twice & also Sunderland. We've got to beat Leicester & Boro at home, and get something at each of Hull, Sunderland & Bournemouth.....
Your right Taff, we've must beat Leicester & Boro at home. Currently their form isn't that good with Leicester 1pt since turn of the year and Boro only 3pts, vs our 9pt haul. Have you noticed that each week our games get bigger and bigger? Sundays game is huge.
Sorry , I've tried but I don't understand this thread . Is it guess the bottom 7 teams at the end of this season ?
Almost Roof, its simple really, just my convoluted way each week of looking at our fight for survival in relation to the teams around us at the bottom of the prem. Its as you say, our own mini league consisting of the bottom 7 teams. Its easier for me to see how ours and their results effect our position and fight for survival. To make me feel better I changed things to make it simple in my head so 14th place in the prem is 1st place in the mini league, counting down to 20th equating to 7th. Its easier for me coz my one eyed mind can only see the games and results of teams directly competing against us for survival, the selfish basterds. Only their results matter because only they can impact our position and also because I've lost interest in anything else going on in the prem, its just an irrelevance to me now.
Lose and Leicester gain a 4 point lead for the fact of our dreadful GD.....This game is Massive as we either go 3pts ahead or we fall 4 pts behind...
Too right Dai, Sundays game is massive with a 'must not lose' tag all over it. A draw would be ok, losing it wouldn't kill us off but it would put a big dent in recovery. Unfortunately it could become the norm where we lose more by losing than we could gain by winning simply because of our pathetic goal difference known aka 'the bradley factor'.
How bad a shape we will be in if we lose depends more on what Boro , Hull , Sunderland and Palace do this weekend IMO . If we lose and two of the teams I mentioned win , not good .
Welcome to the surreal world of grouping and relational mathematics where results have no meaning, a win can be bad, a loss good and compression always rules. Saturday 11/02 Arsenal v Hull (5) = Home win? Middlesbrough (2) v Everton = Away win? Stoke v Crystal Palace (6) = Home win? Sunderland (7) v Southampton = score draw? A huge weekend coming and to add more spice to our game on Sunday, we'll know the results of all of these games before we kick a ball. Exciting or what? Who needs the prem, I love our mini league
You know your at the wrong end of the table when you are concerned how teams around you are doing....My only fear is we end up on the same points as 3rd from bottom .......I would rather go down legit than goal difference...
Arsenal 1 - 0 Hull (half time) Sanchez hand ball into the net - Arsenal lucky, Hull scrapping, not over by a long shot
