Having watched the game on YT. l thought we were very, very ordinary. We were two goals to the good, then Limerick scored a fluke goal which was more of a cross than a shot, the GK was at fault in my view, should have done better. Our defence was all over the place, and subsequently caught out; how much did we pay for Sarr? he would struggle to get in the Welling team! Ahearn Grant and Ceballos were the outstanding players, closely followed by Regan Cook; on the evidence of last night, Clarke and Marshall will go the same way as Ajose and obviously did not fit in to the plan(?) last night. As mentioned previously, playing Texeira at full back was never going to work. DeSilva is currently with the England U19 squad, so even if he comes in he will not be seen for a while as he will need to have a break, by which time we will already be in the lower half of the league. Gk, and two additional forwards urgently required, in addition to the full back positions being covered. Absolute shambles.
Bowyer on the bench tonight. It's a bit of fun, but don't let it detract from lack of depth (still banging that drum).
0.3 down at half time. ARE YOU KIDDING????? Beyond words. That is 85% of our so-called first team playing a bunch of part timers!!!!!!
Lost 4-1! Some will argue its 3 games in 3 days. Others will argue we lost to students. A long way to go.
An unexpected result. For information, here is a table showing which player featured in which game; (data taken from stats on the official website) please log in to view this image (new table added at 13:40 Thursday 13th) I was going to add the goal scorers information, but there is at least one error on the website. Karlan Ahearne-Grant is credited with Charlton's only goal in the 4-1 UCD defeat. But he is not listed as a starting player or a substitute in that game. Since I have not watched the video, I don't know who is listed but did not play. If anybody does know please tell me and I'll adjust the table. I know KA-G is supposed to have great potential, but even he can't score a goal if he isn't on the pitch...
3:35am Lardi - Jesus. Either it was a Tuesday madness that got out of hand, or waking up in the night with a cold sweat that Crofts and Novak could be more than squad players this season.
I want a refund on the £250 it has cost me to come out here. Ajose is walking around with a baseball cap on, Teixeira ditto and got his phone glued to his ear. The discipline in the camp is shocking. F*** all the chat about early pre-season, the geezers who put on the UCD top will be tarmacing roads this morning.
Pardon my ignorance - whats wrong with wearing a cap? I agree with the rest - waste of a trip for those who travelled. Hope you guys managed to make your own fun though.
Limited with the beer prices. Managed to have a nose around St Patricks ground which was good. Hospitality the squirrel would know zero about.
Some evenings I'm so knackered after work I turn in early, but I never actually manage to sleep for any longer than usual! So an early night just means I wake up at a silly hour of the morning...
What they cal a workmanlike display. Second half I had no idea who half the team were, the program only gave some of our squad and did not have their numbers. Ceballos- (apparently it was Cameron Stewart, but there you go) laid on both first half goals, and looked our only creative outlet, so I expect him to feature quite a lot this season. TWWW was very very poor. Solly seems to be carrying a bit of timber, which is not good news if he wants to protect his knees. Magennis likewise needs to shed a few pounds. Jacko playing again at LB is a concern, although the kid who came on in the second half looked OK I thought. Kennedy's goal was well worked and well taken, but otherwise not a lot of quality on display, and 3-0 is a bit harsh on Welling, who were our equal in most respects.
