Pre-season Fixtures JUNE 5, 2017 BY RTGADMIN Sunderland AFC has finalised its pre-season programme, which kicks off on June 29 when the players return to the Academy of Light. The first-team and under 23 squads will travel to Austria for a five-day training camp at the beginning of July, returning ahead of the opening friendly fixture of the pre-season period against Bury FC at Gigg Lane, on the evening of Friday 07 July. Following that, the first-team will play three games against Scottish opposition, during a week-long visit north of the border. Upon their return the Black Cats will make a trip to West Yorkshire to face Bradford on July 22, followed by a game at Scunthorpe on July 26. The pre-season programme concludes with a showpiece game at the Stadium of Light on Saturday 29 July, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the opening of the club’s iconic home. The game is the first pre-season fixture at the Stadium of Light since 2008 and the opposition will be announced in due course. Ticket information for the games will be confirmed as soon as possible.
