To be honest, I read it more the fact that he is very much a fringe player so maybe a step down would be good for him. But it comes down to what he wants from life. He is still only 31, so does he want to be a bench/squad player or does he want regular game time. I imagine he'd get more money from us and think he is a London boy, so maybe him and his family are settled here and don't want the hassle of moving again... and maybe he is just happy with a lifestyle where he goes along to training, plays the odd game, and gets his money for it
Which is why perhaps may I politely suggest that before posting any replys it should be read again to see if it comes over a little aggressive to an individual. Everyones is free to make their comment/take on things but too many previous posters have left this site as others have crossed over the line and taken things to a personal level. And for the little it is worth I agree with your post ref Watson.
He has been a high earner (for most players of the 92 clubs) so the money should not be a problem .His family needing to be settled could be a big think for him or game time .The big problem is players are worth a far bit to the club
I do often think that being a footballer is not all glamour when you might quite happily be settled only to find that an offer has come in that the club wish to accept, or a change of manager who wants to play differently and the player does not fit in. Mind you life is better than when I first started my love affair with Watford. In those days you might get a club house if lucky, but you might only have a contract for eight months and have no money coming in during the summer.
Looks as if we might have up our bid if we really want this one. http://www.footballwhispers.com/blog/liverpool-reject-watford-markovic-bid
https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/3866360/watford-transfer-news-lazar-markovic-liverpool/ Markovic bid rejected, according to the Sun. Not sure if this was mentioned before as there are a fair few rumours flying around. The agents must be rubbing their greedy hands together with glee as this is their feeding season!

There is the possibility - I must admit it is probably unlikely - that Silva sees Hughes and Watson as his central midfield partnership - Watson with his experience, and Hughes with the younger legs but we won't know until the pre-season friendlies.

Confirmation from the official site. England Under-21 international Will Hughes has signed a five-year deal at Vicarage Road, Watford FC is delighted to confirm. Much coveted within Premier League circles over recent seasons, the creative midfielder joins from Championship Derby County for an undisclosed fee.

And a major headache for MS in how best to utilise/keep happy those four + Doucoure, Capoue, Success, Cleverley, possibly Lemina and Watson if he stays. Not to mention Sinclair, Okaka or A.N.Other if he goes...
Having been linked with Hughes over the past two Summers and Markovic also seemingly being considered again like he was apparently last summer it would seem that Silva has probably not picked them himself which goes against the rumours that he has submitted a wish list to the club of players he wants. I would have thought Berghaus would have an opputunity under Silva and would be much cheaper option than Markovic allowing greater investment elsewhere.
