Interesting squad position currently: we have 10 home grown but assuming Hoban is loaned out when fit then one more will be left out of the 25 man squad or sold or loaned out. Obviosly much will change between now and Sept 1st. With the 17 foreigner positions we effectivly only have 16 filled right now (assuming Arkailous (sorry about spelling) doesn't get picked or Zarate due to fitness). Again much will happen before deadline but less pressure than previous years.
Seeing as we are linked with just about every footballer around the world, it would help if before the next transfer window someone could devise an alphabetical system for listing the players. Mind you that might have to be sub-sectioned to striker beginning with O or defender beginning with L etc. That could then lead to a sub-sub-section on home grown, or not, with clauses to state if they need a work permit. Can they give Jon Marks an interview could be indicated with * or ** or even ***. Just a suggestion.
http://www.hertfordshiremercury.co....tford-switch/story-30480239-detail/story.html Keeper linked to Watford.
Well I hope this isn't true but Prodl didn't play on Saturday of course.. http://sportwitness.co.uk/former-liverpool-defender-martin-skrtel-key-watford-transfer/ (And nothing on his social media pages since before the game if that means anything..)
They say "cheaper option" we had 2 player on the bench that was worth 30M, Plus ProdI has been one of our best players so i think 25M would be a good starting price Plus add on then there is the selling on fee of 50% in other words SOD off
Transfer window to close before season starts? According to this link it would only be a transfer from one Prem club to another that is stopped early. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.te...ansfer-revolution-window-shut-premier-league- https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.te...window-shut-premier-league-season-starts/amp/ We seem to be against the idea - maybe because unlike a lot of clubs we do business after the season starts both in terms of In and out due to the numbers we have ! What do you guys think? Sure the Pozzos would adapt though.
About time - I've said before that having it open until 2-3 weeks after the season starts is silly...
Also suggests the same, http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football...ion-window-shut-premier-league-season-starts/ , stating Watford would oppose it. Personally, it only makes sense for Prem to Prem clubs so not sure it[d chence too much....But seems totally logical to shut before the season starts.
It has to be all together or not at all. Imagine other European clubs having a major benefit over the EPL clubs.
But this wouldn't impact us. We get Udinese to buy the player then we buy him from them. And in reverse if we sell a player. Simples. Seriously as you say Chris it has to be all or nothing. Otherwise there would be loop holes and unfairness. Let alone players rights.
It's a nice idea in theory and I would like it to come in, but it would need all of Europe to agree... If we only have up until the end of July and the rest of Europe have until the end of August, it still wouldn't stop all the hassle many clubs are facing - like the Coutinho saga!
I'm not sure about that. Wouldn't other countries, knowing that we can't transfer in or out after 31st July, simply have to fall in line if they wanted to sign players from English clubs?
The rules tends to be for incoming transfers only, so they can still sell to other countries. Not sure they can dictate outgoings...
i think the reason Watford is not voting for it as it will not work.If a big club in Europe wants to buy a EPL player then all they will do is wait until he cant be sold to anther EPL club then come in with a smaller offer then the player want to go what do you do ?
If he is under contract, refuse to let him go? As was pointed out by (I think) Ian Wright on MOTD, players who sulk and throw their toys out of the pram aren't doing their career prospects any good - especially if they hope to be involved in international tournaments such as World Cup or Euro Nations. They need to be playing well and playing regularly to ensure selection.
Giedrius Arlauskis looks set to depart Watford in the coming days, with reports suggesting he will soon complete a move to Romanian side CFR Cluj. Goalkeeper Arlauskis, who made the bench for five of the Hornets' Premier League fixtures last season, is a 23-time capped Lithuanian international and joined the club from Steaua Bucharest in 2015. But reports have claimed the 29-year-old has had his contract at Vicarage Road paid up, paving the way for him to move to the Romanian Premier Division side, managed by former Chelsea winger Dan Petrescu. The last of Arlauskis' two appearances for Watford came off the bench in a 3-2 win over Aston Villa at Villa Park in November 2015. He also played 90 minutes in their League Cup exit to Preston North End that same year, but has yet to add to those two appearances for the club. He spent the second half of that season on loan at Espanyol in La Liga, starting three games.
So we all think that Coutinho will stay (they could agree to sell him next summer if anyone wants him) Its very rare that clubs can afford to "let them rot in the stands" .Will he get picked for his country if he is not playing his best game for Liv ? We all know that players contracts are not what they should be .
Not in the same class, I know, but we have only today managed to get one such player off the books...
Did you see that his " contract was paid up by the club" but it did not say about the balance of his signing on fee so it could have saved us a little
