Just got home from watching an excellent game, and 4-0 win, over Grimsby. Brilliant all round play, and three first half goals from Kyle Bennett with his third goal in three matches, Danny Rose, and man of the match Carl Baker. Fourth goal was scored by Kal Naismith just after half time. Atmosphere was superb, with both sets of fans joining in. Attendance was 16,492 including 527 away fans. Best bit was when Grimsby fans started singing 'Play Up Pompey' in the second half. Other results basically went our way, so we are now six points clear of 4th place Carlisle, and seven points clear of Luton and Stevenage who are 5th and 6th. We only trail 2nd placed Plymouth by four points. A good day at the office
Looks promising hopefully not too many squeaky bum games but as you say you have now a pleasing gap between you and fourth - happy days
Another good result. Makes me feel positive about the Stevenage game. I hope Naismith's injury is not long term. From reports it appears his pace and energy have had much to do with the teams good run.
Kal Naismith is currently playing exceptionally well, PDU. His link ups with Carl Baker are brilliant. We must keep these two players fit for the rest of the season.
Agree Woop - big test tomorrow to see if we can maintain this good run. If we keep picking up points per game wins or draws we may just do it - I'll happily take 3rd - it was my hope at the start of the season for automatic - anything else would be a bonus.
