The moment I loved the most came not from Trump himself but from Billy Graham's representative: “In the bible, rain is the sign of a blessing. And it started to rain Mr President when you came to the platform.” I had to swallow a little bit of sick. Vin
Sounds a nice guy as well... A pastor who blamed gay people for a “moral 9/11” has preached to millions at Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony. Pastor Franklin Graham was one of a number of hard-right religious figures to appear at the event, just minutes after President Trump was sworn into office. The pastor, the son of evangelist Billy Graham and head of Christian charity Samaritan’s Purse, spoke for less than a minute, claiming that God was “blessing” Trump by raining on the event before reading 1 Timothy 2. Graham is not always known for sticking so solidly to the scripture. The pastor recently claimed there had been a “moral 9/11” in America due to “gays and lesbians” on school boards. He claimed: “The country is imploding. We are seeing a moral implosion. Just like we saw the World Trade Center on 9/11 when the planes hit the tower, they imploded, they fell from within, and this is what’s happening to our country, we’re falling within. “So many school districts now are controlled by wicked, evil people, and the gays and lesbians… I keep bringing their name up, but they are at the forefront of this attack against Christianity in America. http://www.pinknews.co.uk/2017/01/20...aign=PNTwitter
I am not proposing that this should happen, but am I the only one who can envisage Trump being the next American president to be assassinated? Thing is, would it be by his enemies or those tasked with protecting him?
Yeah, well. That's why we voted Brexit to stop that lot coming over here and bringing their AIDS with them. Well done good old USA, standing up for what is right. You do realise there are people who will agree this view, don't you? Worrying!
Not sure if alot of Americans are just dumb, badly informed or just gullible, we have a country here that 80% of the population believe in angels. its sad that are only 8 members of congress are atheist, just read the comments made by that Graham, these bible bashers saying that AIDS is gods justice should be locked up for hate talk. A presidential candidate has to come across as a religious person or a large % of the population will not trust him/her and see them as morally corrupt, there is no way I will see a atheist running for president in my life time, there are alot of subjects that are complicated (like abortion) but when religion is thrown into the mix they almost become impossible to resolve , either anti womans rights or a child killer
I think you have hit the nail on the head. The US needs to separate religion and politics. It's on their bank notes and soon to be on their police cars. Trump even mentioned god today in his speech. Although I am an atheist, I respect others views, and if god is your bag then so be it. But you can not run a country solely based on "god's way". As you say, throw god into he mix and abortion, gay rights etc become a minefield. Just do what is right and be a nice person. You don't need god for that. Atheist rant over [emoji16]
I didn't watch the inauguration because I was making orders up but it was on the TV and when I walked past that picture was full to the brim and it reminded me of this article from the Spectator (The menace of memes.) Wierd that the BBC live pictures showed a different picture to their photo: http://blogs.spectator.co.uk/2014/11/the-menace-of-memes-how-pictures-can-paint-a-thousand-lies/
President Donald Trump directed government agencies on Friday to freeze regulations and take steps to weaken Obamacare, using his first hours in the White House to make good on a campaign promise to start dismantling his predecessor's healthcare law. Heading into the Oval Office shortly after the conclusion of his inaugural parade, Trump signed an order on the Affordable Care Act that urged government departments to "waive, defer, grant exemptions from, or delay the implementation" of provisions that imposed fiscal burdens on states, companies or individuals. It also called for efforts to give states greater flexibility in implementing healthcare programs while developing "a free and open market in interstate commerce for the offering of healthcare services and health insurance." Health experts had speculated that Trump could expand exemptions from the so-called individual mandate, which requires Americans to carry insurance or face a penalty, or the requirement that employers offer coverage. Experts also believe the administration could try to reduce the “essential benefits,” such as maternity care and mental health services, that insurance plans must cover. President Donald Trump reportedly plans to sign an executive order this weekend reinstating the “Mexico City policy,” banning foreign aid from going to nongovernmental organizations — like the International Planned Parenthood Federation — that offer abortions. The policy could be re-established as early as Sunday, according to a report from Foreign Policy, the 43rd anniversary of the Supreme Court decision on Roe v. Wade. The Republican policy, also known as the “global gag rule,” was put in place by former President Ronald Reagan’s administration in 1984 in Mexico City. Ever since, Republican and Democratic presidents have been playing a game of policy ping-pong with the mandate. The policy was lifted by former President Bill Clinton in 1993, then reinstated by former President George W. Bush when he took office in 2001. Eight years later, former President Barack Obama overturned the rule. So reports that the new president may reinstate the policy are not surprising. Regardless, Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) told Foreign Policy that she is prepared to fight Trump on the matter through legislative procedures, should he reinstate the rule through executive order. Any legislation to overturn the president’s policy decision on this matter would need to pass through the Republican-controlled House and Senate, and would even then likely face a veto from Trump. “It will be one of their first actions, which is very short-sighted,” she told the magazine. And Amnesty International said the move would “send a dangerous message to the world that the reproductive rights of women and girls, and refugees’ rights are not a priority,” according to the New York Daily News. It is worth noting, though, that Obama’s decision to rescind the rule was among his least popular decisions at the start of his tenure in the White House. In 2009, only 35 percent approved of the former president’s decision to overthrow the rule, while 58 percent disagreed with the move, according to a Gallup survey. The 1977 Hyde Amendment banned the use of federal funds for abortions within the U.S. However, the “Mexico City policy” not only extends that rule to foreign organizations but also bars them from receiving funding for non-abortion activities. According to the Guttmacher Institute, more than $600 million in U.S. foreign aid was appropriated for family planning in fiscal year 2016. The pro-abortion institute said the money would have aided some 27 million women. http://www.theblaze.com/news/2017/01...-this-weekend/
