    Midweek trials and tribulations:

On Tuesday night in League One, Jack Grimmer and Stevie Humphries played together in Shrewsbury Town’s 2-1 defeat at home to promotion play off hopefuls Millwall. Grimmer came on as a first half substitute in the 36th minute for Joe Riley who had injured his leg, once the Shrews were already a goal down. After Millwall doubled their lead in the 77th minute Humphrys was sent on to try salvage something from the game, replacing the injured sub Tyler Roberts. Shrewsbury’s consolation goal was set up by Humphrys, and Shaun Walley was on hand to squeeze a shot past the keeper.

That loss for Shrewsbury means six games without a win and they slide into the relegation zone, two points from safety. Millwall are outside the play-off spots on goal difference.

In the Scottish Premier League, Larnell Cole came on as a substitute in the 61st minute replacing Ross Draper in their away 1-0 loss to Aberdeen. Unable to get any points from the game means Inverness Caledonian Thistle remain bottom of the table, three points from safety and the two teams above have a game in hand. There are two games left in the season.

On Wednesday night in the Championship, Lasse Vigen Christensen and Cauley Woodrow made appearances for Burton Albion against league leaders Newcastle. Newcastle ran out 1-0 winners at St James’ Park curtesy of a 20-yard strike from Matt Richie. Christensen played for 70 minutes before being replaced by Michael Kightly, and Woodrow came onto the pitch with five minutes to go, replacing Marvin Sordell to try snatch an equaliser.

That win for the Magpies put them back on the top of the table as they continue their battle for the title, and the Brewers are four points above the safety line in 19th.

At the beginning of the week, Jozabed made a brief appearance for Celta Vigo in their 3-1 win at home over Las Palmas, replacing frontman Iago Aspas. He did get an assist though. The three points puts Celta firmly in mid table, in 10th position, with Las Palmas staying in 12th.

Rumors that both Sheffield United & Celtic are ready to make offers for Lasse Vigen Christensen his contract runs out in summer 2018.
I think we should keep him.

I hope Joka gives LVC another chance; he could cover the box-to-box Johansen role. To be honest, I think we've suffered slightly in LVC's absence as Johansen has looked a little tired over the past month.

They're queueing up for LVC with Birmingham being the latest to be linked with him. Presumably he's still in Jokanovic's plans though, otherwise why loan him out to get game time; especially since LVC himself said at the time that it came as a surprise.

I'd like us to keep LVC, but I suspect that he's just not in Jokanovic's plans, otherwise he'd have kept him around. I'd be surprised if we don't look to move him on this summer, particularly if there are several teams interested, giving us the best possible chance to maximise his transfer fee.

The latest exploits of the lads out on loan:

Cauley Woodrow played 71 minutes for Burton Albion on Saturday afternoon as the Brewers picked up a point in their battle against relegation. The young striker was replaced by Lucas Akins as the the hosts looked to hold on to a valuable point. The point sees Burton five points clear of the relegation zone with 5 games remaining. Fellow loanee Lasse Vigen Christensen did not feature in this match.

In League Two Marek Rodák played a full 90 minutes for Accrington Stanley as they hit back from two goals down to extend their 13-game unbeaten run courtesy of a 3-2 victory over Crewe. The victory saw the hosts climb up to 12th in the League as they are now 4 points in touch of the play-off spots.

Cameron Burgess featured for Bury in the 2-0 loss at home to Bradford on Saturday afternoon. The powerful center back played the whole match and was booked in the 78th minute as the Shakers remained close to the bottom three with the loss.

Jack Grimmer played the full 90 minutes for Shrewsbury Town and Stevie Humphrys was brought on with just over 25 minutes to play as the Shrews climbed out of the League One relegation zone with a 1-0 victory against Rochdale. On-loan Barnsley striker Stefan Payne's first goal for Shrewsbury was enough to earn Paul Hurst's side a first win since 28 February.

In Scotland, Larnell Cole was sent off as Inverness Caledonain Thistle were cut adrift at the bottom of the Scottish Premiership, going down 3-0 at home to St Johnstone. Cole was shown two yellow cards for dissent in quick succession in the 82nd minute.

In Spain Jozabed was involved for Celta Vigo in their 2-0 losing effort against Eibar.

What a weekend for BurtonFFC. A nice wee bit of help from Richard Stearman and his Wolves team as well.

Lasse Vigen Christensen played the full 90 minutes and Cauley Woodrow was an unused substitute for Burton Albion as they ran out deserved 2-0 winners away at Birmingham City. Lloyd Dyer put the visitors ahead before Lucas Akins hooked in from a corner in the second half to secure a valuable win in the Brewers fight against relegation.

Richard Stearman played a full 90 minutes for Wolves on Monday afternoon as the Wanderers helped Fulham climb back into the top 6 by the end of Easter Monday after a resolute defensive display against Leeds United. Wolves started brightly and Nouha Dicko gave them the lead, beating Rob Green with a low first-time shot. Leeds turned up the pressure in the second half, but ex Fulham goalkeeper Andy Lonergan saved from Souleymane Doukara and Kortney Hause cleared off the line to keep it 1-0.

Ryan Tunnicliffe featured for Wigan Athletic as the Latics fell to Brighton & Hove Albion on Easter Monday 2-1. A day of contrasting emotions for both sides as the victory saw the Seagulls promoted to the Premier League and deepened the relegation fears for the visiting side. Tunnicliffe was subbed off in the 61st minute, with the game all but over.

In League 1 Jack Grimmer and Stevie Humphrys both played a part as Mat Sadler's second-half equaliser earned Shrewsbury a valuable point at nine-man Northampton Town. Grimmer played the full match for the Shrews. A Marc Richards' header gave Northampton a 21st-minute lead, but Sadler headed home Shrewsbury's equaliser midway through the second period. Humphrys, introduced in the 62nd minute with the visitors pushing for the lead went close late on but it was not meant to be and the match ended in deadlock.

In League 2 Marek Rodak starred for Accrington Stanley on Good Friday and also on Easter Monday, being named in the EA Sport EFL Team of the Easter Weekend. The imposing goalkeeper kept two clean sheets and saved a penalty and produced a plethora of fine saves throughout the weekend to see Stanley climb up 12th in the table.

Cameron Burgess played the full 90 minutes on Monday as Bolton missed the chance to move four points clear of third-placed Fleetwood as they were held to a drab draw by relegation-threatened rivals Bury.

Over in Spain Tony Adams' first match in charge of Granada ended in a comprehensive La Liga defeat by a Celta Vigo side with one eye on the Europa League. Jozabed clipped in the opener for Celta, who made 10 changes to keep players fresh for their European push.

So pleased for BurtonFFC. Today's win pretty much secures their position in the Championship as the leap frog over QPR. The fact the victory was 2-1 over Leeds just adds an extra dimension of pleasure.

Lasse Vigen Christensen played the whole game but Cauley Woodrow wasn't in the match squad.

Not a bad weekend with only one of the lads out on loan falling at the last hurdle -

In the Championship Lasse Vigen Christensen helped ensure the Brewers are staying in England's second tier for at least another season. Christensen played 90 minutes as Burton drew 1-1 away to 14th placed Barnsley. That point means the Brewers are in 19th place and the lowest they can drop to is 20th with one final game left in the season at home to Reading. Cauley Woordrow was an unused substitute in the game.

Ryan Tunnicliffe played 90 minutes for Wigan Athletic in the match that sent the Northern side back down to League One. Reading beat Wigan 1-0 to secure their Play-Off place at the same time as relegating the Latics.

In League One Cameron Burgess played his last game for Bury before returning to Fulham. Bury lost 1-0 away to Southend United and Burgess played the full 90 minutes. Even with the loss Bury had secured enough points to stay up and finished in 19th place, and Southend finished one point below the Play-Offs.

In League Two Marek Rodák played the full 90 in Accrington Stanley’s 4-1 home defeat to promotion hopefuls Luton Town. Rodák made a fantastic one handed save in the 26th minute to keep the score level before James Justin managed to get one past him two minutes later. Accrington are safe in 13th place and Luton are top of the Play-Off spots in fourth.
