You can imagine the briefing now- "So you all know what you should do?" " Yes sir. Move in at the first sign of trouble and hit them hard." "No, no, no. You stand back and let the Millwall fans do what they want. Some nasty buggers there, might not do what they are told and you may get hit by a flying seat. We then send them on their way without enraging them further by hostile acts like arresting them and then spend a few weeks poring over CCTV and if any City fan is seen gesticulating or mouthing profanities because they objected to objects being launched at them we track them down. Fines, banning orders. Then a self congratulatory piece in the HDM how dangerous football matches are and we need an even higher pol8ce presence there. Maybe a mention at the same time of it is a shame football matches can't be wonderful, m friendly occasions like Ladies Day or Rugby League matches. Job's a good 'under. Let's be careful out there.".
Yes I think we could be looking at double digit pts deduction for next season. And/ or a fine. Or ordered to play behind closed doors (but open windows).
Since when were pitch invasions regarded as a terrible crime? I live in an area that has quite a few local Millwall supporters and they're good people. What they have done in the last couple of years to make themselves a true community club is to be applauded. They are the polar opposite of Ehab's approach. Congratulations Millwall. I look forward to playing them again, if only to banish the memory of our last visit to the Den - the only City game I have left before the final whistle.
Yes Millwall are actually a real community club and they're trying to do great things. However they still have a huge amount of thick aggro seeking fans. They just can't rid themselves of it and never will.
