    Plymouth V Charlton

    Bets -

Today I'm betting on HT/FT..... why? because (this season) we have a strong bench.... for L1 anyway. Bookies are offering 33/1 (Ladbrokes/Corals-- not Billy Hills) for Plymouth/Charlton which seems generous to me. We have players on the bench that can change the game (OK not an experienced goalscorer) people like Reeves, Konsa & Dijksteel..... I can see Plymouth starting fast and Amos letting one in so going in 1-0 down but Holmes getting a brace in the second half so finishing 1-2

Any time goalscorer Ricky Holmes.... 5/2 ?? fill your boots.

    <cheers>

Robinson has said that we have no new injuries. Where have you heard that Kashi is out?

If Kashi is injured I'd expect the more defensive Konsa to replace him, otherwise I expect the same team. It looks like a decent footballing side.

Twitter said that Kashi was carrying a knock and wouldn't be risked

Full time; Plymouth Argyle 2-0 Charlton Athletic.

A reality check for Karl Robinson and the squad.

Better that it happens now, with 20 days of the transfer window remaining.
As long as something is done about it of course.

Amos is a weak link, he can make the fancy saves but looks really dodgy at corners & crosses.

Magennis missing a host of chances proved why we need another big player up front.

Plymouth looked alright but I'd say a combination of luck and inability to finish good chances cost us.

That's what I've been reading on CL. We were very good first half, but missed a hatful of chances and became predictable second half. It's obvious we need a striker, but I can't see Roland allowing KR the money to buy one, especially after the Ajose fiasco, so the defence is going to have to tighten up if we want to challenge for promotion, because there aren't too many goals in this team.

I know it's only the second game, and I won't read too much into one disappointing result.
But I wish the article writers on the CAFC website would get some original lines.

    The rueing has already started...

There was more than enough rueing last season.
Cut it out for pity's sake and sort the issues out.

We aren't going anywhere while we keep moaning that we deserved more than we got from games.
Personally after the last two seasons I'm sick and tired of hearing that.

Not there today, but the writing has been on the wall since pre-season. The starting 11 is decent although lacking players of the calibre of Hamer, Yann and Stephens. We also have 3/4 decent Academy players who will get 20-odd games this season. The rest is crap.

For the sake of investing £1m in the 3-4 players needed to make the squad competitive, we will once again be in mid table this season.

Just settled in here for an eveing in Plymouth, after a tough run on the M5 and a tough game.
    Thoughts?
We played good, composed football in the first half, and while even then I thought we lacked an edge we created a couple of good opportunities. The way the game went coud be judged by the noise levels as Plymouth were silent for the first twenty minutes, but they began to knock balls over the defence, and their overlap on the wings created some real problems. At half time I thought 0-0 looked fair but not likely to last, and my mate reckoned Plymouth would win 1 or 2 nil. The second half was different. Our neat passing game went nowhere, and when Plymouth went ahead, they shut up shop, and we really didn't look likely to equalise, bar a half chance for Mag, just before the second goal. The support trailed off, as the fans had nothing to get excited about, and some bellend lobbed a flare onto the pitch after the second goal, just to make us look like poor losers.
In the end, it's just a balance to last weeks heroics, but either the cteative side needs a boost, or e need a striker who can make space to recieve the ball. Mag received almost no service in the second half, but as he was coming bck from injury, he might also have not been at his best. No matter, plenty there for KR to worry about. And a definate nod to everyone who said the squad was too light.
Finally, the KR interview. Rubbish. The better team won today - Plymouth had a few chances first half and the second half was exclusively theirs. I still loathe the memory of Pardew's silly excuses after well deserved defeats - KR needs to pipe down a bit. No need to go overboard after two league games, but that result was far from unfair - we vanished after half time.

Signing a striker is now vital. There is plenty of money available and the Regime has changed its ways, so there shouldn't be a problem.

The better teams will work us out, 4-2-3-1 every time. When Novak got sent off we had to play without a target man and we got a very good win. Coincedence? I think not.
