Not such a pantomime afterall! (see what I did there!) We have made a bid of £1.5Million which has been turned down. The transfer coup of the summer if we get him in supplying the bullets for Chopra to fire! Burnley are in for him as well but he favours a move to Town because of Chopra and the £20k a week wages. If this is true PJ I might even forgive you for letting O'Connor rot in the reserves! (well almost!) Elsewhere the striker we are bidding for is Sharp, we have upped the offer to £3.5Million and Doncaster are willing to do business. Seems we might just get our man afterall!
god i hope your right!!!..... is it from a good source? i no you were right about the chops deal, but i cant see us going for sharp again now we have chops but stranger things have happened
I've been told by a very reliable source, the same person that told me that Chopra would be signing a week before it was made official. Cardiff in the **** financially and Whittingham would jump at the chance of linking up with Chopra. We are in a position to spend big and PJ was testing the water with his first bid last week. I expect the bid to be increased to around £2 million next week.
I hope this is true, this season is lookin beta by the week. Us town supporters need a good season afta some poor turnouts in previous season. In pj we trust #ipjwt
All sounds plausible. We would be serious going forward then, with the lousy defence and keeper expect a load of 4-3s at Portman Road!
Whittingham would be awesome But are Sharp and Chopra too similar...? Still, that strikeforce would still scare a hell of a lot of Championship teams next year! I'm certain a few opposition managers said last year that they were worried about Scotland... Having said all that, the £3.5m (surely it would be 3.25 as that was accepted from Sunderland??) price tag for Sharp does seem like a lot. I'm not certain he is worth that! Mind you, Wickham wasn't worth £8m Still would be very happy with this signing! This year is looking up! Just need a good solid CB now
Why do you think Cardiff would want to sell Whittingham? Somebody mentioned our poor financial situation. This is incorrect. Our new Malaysian owners have stabilised the club's finances and our new manager has a transfer pot of £10m to spend this season. Chopra was sold because of his reported off field addictions and was off loaded because of his role in an alleged drinking culture at the club. He's a good player though and wish he would have stayed.
burnley are in for him as well.but he prefers a move to town.On what basis have you formed this. you write as if you have talked to whitts.Or is this a done deal as with the florists last year. I think this is pure speculation on your part as your manager has said he is making an offer for a wide player which has been turned down.
Although Sharp is clearly a class player at this level, I'm not sure he'd be that useful for us. Two small men up top is not something that would suit us, we had Scotland and Tamas up front last season and neither of them can win a header so I'd like to think PJ has learnt from that and is pursuing alternatives to bring more balance to the side. That said if we keep the ball on the deck and sign Sharp I will be incredibly happy.
