Mods, on the other forum that I'm running this game on I create a separate thread for each week but I know here I kept it on one thread to save clutter. Happy either way but will keep it on one until told otherwise :)

Gameweek 1 was a simple question that you'd expect a fair few people to guess correctly... or so you'd think!

GW1: Who will score in the first gameweek?

For those of you who are new to the game, I will reveal the incorrect answers first followed by the correct answers followed by the league table. It's meant to be a bit fun and there are always some answers that make you go "why on earth would you choose them?!" and hindsight is a wonderful, wonderful thing in this game!

With all that said... here we go for the first time this season :)

    Incorrect Answers

    1) He hit the bar from a massively deflected shot but that's about the closest both him and Arsenal came to beating their London rivals. Our bottom placed player last season starts this one off on a similar note...

    Incorrect Answer - Aaron Ramsey
    Cisse's Overheating Torso

    2) Our very own original nutter was lucky to last the full 20 minutes of his debut. Never really threatened to score but hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come...

    Incorrect Answer - Aleksandar Mitrovic
    TJR

    3) This Chilean got given an extra rest but spent it working out on the beach. Madman. His little cameo appearance couldn't save Arsenal from a defeat though...

    Incorrect Answer - Alexis Sanchez
    SAFC83

    4) He did nothing except dive around and pretend to act hard. Bit of a contradiction there methinks...

    Incorrect Answer - Diego Costa
    BobbyD

    5) Last year's stand out player (aside from Harry Kane actually) didn't get off to a brilliant start. A stuttering performance from him and his teammates meant they've already lost ground on Manchester City but we all know they'll pick it up. Oh and for any of you who may think I could be cheating by taking part in my own game, this should ease those fears...

    Incorrect Answer - Eden Hazard
    TommyToonAA
    Don Sholeone
    Nolberto's Salsa Inferno

    6) Hazard's teammate who probably spent more time eyeing up the WAGs in the stands than trying to repel Swansea attacks also drew a blank in this match...

    Incorrect Answer - John Terry
    Albert's Chip Shop

    7) Manchester United's almost forgotten signing what with the Schweinsteiger coup and now the DDG debacle still came up empty in this season opener...

    Incorrect Answer - Memphis Depay
    yacob

8.) I thought this was a great shout once answers started coming in but unfortunately for these 3 players this quiffed Frenchman couldn't knock the stuffing out of West Ham and only proceeded to knock himself out instead...

    Incorrect Answer - Olivier Giroud
    B4E
    Beatski
    Having A Good Time

    9) Missed a sitter tonight (not for the first time as any Liverpool fan will happily tell you now) so not only will these 2 players hate him for being young and mega rich, he also cost them a couple of points as well...

    Incorrect Answer - Raheem Sterling
    LaFraise92
    Less Hope Than Neville

    10) Our most popular answer came from an almost forgotten man. Well I thought he was until he became probably the most popular answer in all of the game. He got an assist but unfortunately that's no use for this question; next week's is a different story though...

    Incorrect Answer - Romelu Lukaku
    Alfie
    CheikyTiote
    Frank Dialogue
    In Biscan We Trust
    KWW1958

    11) He may consider himself a striker nowadays but just wait until Benzema turns up. If he does...

    Incorrect Answer - Theo Walcott
    Bodacious Benny
    El Marko
    Karljay

    12) Watford's big hope for this season surprisingly didn't score in a fairly highscoring game but I'm pretty sure he'll be on target soon...

    Incorrect Answer - Troy Deeney
    Sebb's Campaign Manager

    13) Finally, our last incorrect answer is the famous movie star himself. Starring in the massive award winning film series Shrek...

    Incorrect Answer - Wayne Rooney
    Beardface
    Radioheed

Bad luck all of us. We will find out our scores after we first reveal what the correct answers were!

So we have 2 correct answers... both of which are aces so the best possible start for 2 of our players!

    Correct Answers

    1) This young man made the mistake of moving to a club that was too big for him at too young an age. Luckily for him his old club took him back and he's thrived since then! I genuinely think he'll be very good this season (which pisses me off because of who his manager is...) hence he's in all of my fantasy football teams...

    Correct Answer - Wilfried Zaha
    CryMeARiviere

    2) Our second correct answer is our very own new boy on the block. He didn't turn up in a tux but he wowed everyone with what was a pretty impressive debut by all accounts. A great goal, incredible change of pace and more tricks than a tricky trickster from trickster university (thank you Blackadder) I'm pretty sure he'll be a fan favourite in no time...

    Correct Answer - Gini Wijnaldum
    DimiNUFC

Congrats you two! On to the scores and the league table next...

So those of us that guessed incorrectly get 3 points each (SHEEP score of 1 [Gini/Zaha] plus 2 correct answers) while the DimiNUFC and CryMeARiviere both get off to the perfect start with 1 point a piece. As a result, the table looks very dull and like so:

Next week we will be looking for those who assisted! Good luck and until then, cheerio :)

I'm planning on doing a Pardew this year. Going to follow up my 5th place finish with a relegation battle after believing my own hype and trying to be too clever :(

Considering quite a few of my prediction answers are players not even in the Premier League at the minute then it could be all over for me by September 1st <laugh>

I definitely remember thinking that there were some very bold predictions coming in but you're not the only one...

    v. owned, 0wned, pwned, 0wn3d, pwn3d, own3d.
    v. tr.
To be made a fool of; To make a fool of; To confound or prove wrong; embarrasing someone: Being embarrased.

Obviously English is not your first language so I thought I would help you understand the meaning of 'owned'.

    Also 36-35 ring any bells.
