Either way, the amount will fade over time and all that will matter is how well he performed. If someone says Robson, Keane, Torres (at Chelsea) or Di Maria no one thinks British record transfer fee. They think great players for the first two, disappointing flops for the second. Just look at Falcao - loan for both Utd and Chelsea and still seen as a flop regardless of being free.

The price isn't as important as the profile of the player imo, and whilst Pogba hasn't been terrible so far he does need to raise his level to meet the hype which accompanied his transfer. Three times in the Serie A TOTY, also featuring in the UEFA TOTY and World XI, but he's not going to come close to any of those this season unless he really pulls something out for the last couple of months.

That said, I'd prefer him to be a player who finds his feet the first season and grows into the league, rather than one who blows everyone away in the first season then never recaptures those heights again.

 

I said this about David De Gea ( When he joined us ), I'm going to say it about Paul Pogba, he'll come good for us next season in my opinion.

People are far too obsessed with the amounts of money that are spent.
At the end of the day, for me, as long as my club do not go bankrupt, and can afford to function as a football club, then I do not give a dusty **** how much they spend on players, stadium refurbs, wages etc.....

I should also add, that I think Pogba has been an average signing, so far.
He did **** all for the first half of the season, but in the last few weeks he has started to impress himself on games more and more.
Think he will turn out to be a very good signing eventually.

And I think that's exactly the problem - when you speak objectively about what is considered obscene, there's often this misconception that by admitting an amount is obscene you somehow are saying that you object to your club spending that amount.. when you can hold both positions quite easily.
