The lad has the world's biggest pockets..... he must have... he popped Helder Costa in there this weekend to go with the other 'top rated' wingers he's been collecting lately......

Dummy is vastly under rated IMHO and can also cover at CB.

He has been ok at best in the Championship. He is utter gash in the PL.

That does sound just a little stalkerish to be quite honest.

He gets a hard time from fans, often very unfairly.

He'll have a decent career in the Championship or even SPL. Not good enough for the Premiership but a solid defender. We have bigger problems than him in the team (like that horrendous ginger mackem)

I think you have to give Colback a lot of credit for the handling of Costa also. The way they doubled up was excellent and pretty much neutered him. A very astute bit of tactical work from Rafa. Both deserve a whole lot of credit for carrying it out.

Realistically however neither is good enough . Both are championship players for me. Colback doesn't even stand out at this level and personally I think he has regressed quite a lot from his first season. Dummett is solid defensively. In the PL though you have to offer a bit more and he is a barrier to the flow of our forward play. He can't link up with whoever is in front of him and despite being quick never seems to overlap and get his crosses in. He is acceptable to retain as a back up option if we are promoted but we need a first team regular there.

The double up act was a good tactic on Saturday. It is acceptable against teams who have only one main threat. In the PL that is rarely the case however.

I do agree with praising him for Saturday though, you have to be balanced. The problem is some of our fans decide a player is **** and then refuse to give them any credit regardless how they play. I think Haidara is gash but if he had a good game I'd say so. I think Gouf is gash at PL level but he has played well on a number of occasions at this level. Make no mistake Dummett had a very very good game on Saturday. His key role was to deal with Costa who is very talented, along with Colback they did a real number on him.

Dummy gets lots of stick from the fans "he can't pass" "he doesn't get forward enough" etc etc. But he does do the job he is in the team for.. defend. Never brilliant, but also never terrible, aside from the odd game. He puts his body on the line when needed which you need defenders to do. He's no reberto Carlos but he's a decent (local)lad playing for the toon. Let's back what we have and if some day we can attract better it will only improve our club.

Nope, he is just pure ****e! I would much rather see him as 4th choice CB then ever play at LB. Yes the defending part is reasonable but then put any CB in his position and I would expect that. The actual role of LB and he is **** at it.

A left back in modern football has to be able to do more than defend. Certainly the way Rafa likes to play even more so. Hence he had Riise at Liverpool.
