Bob was given the opportunity he had been seeking so of course he took it. Unfortunately for him and the Swans and unlike Caesar he came he saw but he didnt conquer. So time to move on
I dont know if he is a good or bad person. What I do know,in my own mind,is that he had the job because he is an American.
Can you imagine the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona fans being concerned about an ex player staying at the club if they were in as much trouble as us?
That's a fair point. We love our 'legends' but it works both ways. Curtis has had a lucrative career with us well after his playing days had finished. On the other hand it's lucky for us he did because he steered us through some difficult patches for sure. A legend? Yes, and will remain so. But we have to recognize that we are right in the mire and whatever Clement wants he should be given it. If that includes a clearout of staff and players then that's what should happen.
Should you turn a Titanic around or just keep it afloat? Not sure. If you pointed it in the opposite direction it could still hit an iceberg and sink. Better still - don't go anywhere near icebergs at all, just cruise in the Tropics. Am I over-thinking this one
With respect 55, you don't actually "know". You can surmise, of course, and you wouldn't be wrong in doing so. It's possible that the owners did sign him up because he was a yank. it's also possible that they would have signed him regardless of nationality, because they thought he was the best man for the job. The truth is, we don't know why they signed him as Manager. What we do know, however, is that he has gone.
At this point its all about the new guy and what he wants thats for sure. Alun Curtis has done a great job, in fact this time last year we were in 17th place and only 3 points better off than we are now and Curtis helped turn it around so it can be done. And like i said before are there three worst teams than us because that is all it takes. Alan Curtis has also had his fair share of luck along the way but now is the time to get the football back. Say what you like about Tony Pulis but he always delivers and that cant be Luck its something the Swans need now a good solid manager in charge of football.
