Why for the love of god is Ricky Holmes on the bench. He is the ONLY player we have with any creativity and guile to unlock a stubborn defense. F*****g ludicrous...!!!!!!
The writing was on the wall when we appointed a manager who hasn't had a successful season in 22 attempts, and old journeymen like foley (who was only worthy of a 5 month contract) are first choice players.
Yeah, it's what I imagine every game has been like. We aren't creative, which is not real surprise considering every fan could see that on Sept 1st. We play to not lose. That the difference between teams that are promoted/achieve playoffs and teams that bemoan those dropped points come may. Amazingly some fans are happy with another point. I. Give. Up.
Just back. A very difficult ground to get to by train and bus. Won't be going back when we play them in the league next season. Performance rating today 3/10 Why the f*ck are we going to places like Oxford and setting up 4-5-1, with Magennis once again totally isolated up front ? One comical moment in the second half when Josh won a header and laid off back - and the nearest of our geriatric midfield was 30 yards away. We looked better when Holmes came on and presumably he is not fit hence not starting. The teams problems grow more apparent week after week. Incredible that a manager of over 20 seasons experience cannot seem to see it. Turgid, defensive sideways football with no pace, creativity and wit. I spoke to a few fans sitting around me today and absolutely nobody was enthused by either Slade or this team. A long season, I fear.
The tactics were to play 4-5-1, with 4 of the 5 mids playing defensively, and when Holmes came on he took off Lookman, our only attacking threat. Big Josh must have the plague he was so isolated. It could have been worse had they not gifted us a silly penalty. My first game of the season and Slade has got right on my tits already. The fans were excellent though. YB
Someone had better quickly tell Slade you cannot draw your way out of this league 6 points off Oldham and Rochdale next week or he has got to go.
Slade isn't the manager to bring on a talented kid like Lookman. Ok with L1 journeymen like Foley or Crofts whose game is all about closing the opposition down, but Lookman needs guidance, and as the game wore on he did not get any.
Slade - no promotions in 58 seasons as a manager for a reason. He does a cartwheel in the showers if we get a 0-0 draw. His ideal formation would be 1-10-0-0 - the only thing that stops him is that he has signed so many sh1t midfielders.
With the players we've signed there isn't much a manager can do. We have a million defensive midfielders and Ulvstead who looks decent.
"Stand Up If You Want THEM Out" was sung in the away end yesterday. I had a look around as it was sung - well over 90% of the Charlton fans were standing up. Someone send a video to the apologist w*nkers at Target20k
The Kassam Stadium is an unlovely place that you wouldn't visit twice - and certainly not by public transport. The concourse below the away end was ridiculously narrow for a "sell out" and there were not enough Bengazis. The stewards were a tad over zealous in trying to get people to sit down and had clearly been reading the Mick Everett Provocation Handbook. If you have a purpose built out of town centre stadium you have to get the transport links properly organised. Brighton is a good example of this, and even Walsall put in a train link next to their ground. In comparison to this the Kassam is a bad joke, a slow and packed stopping train from Paddington (4 carriages, rammed) followed by a torturous journey on public transport which even the bus driver chuckled at when I asked. Avoid the Kassam or drive.
