Our not606 board

Morning all, as you know already I was given new powers by the gods of not606 yesterday. I asked to be 'Hagfishman' but instead they made me a scooter (I know there's not a lot of difference) so I thought I would post my first guidelines to the flock.

This is a new site with a lot more room for self expression than 606, please do not abuse it otherwise the people from 'up high' may be forced to curb some elements. We all have histories from 606 but this is a fresh start, a fresh home so I will not take account of previous posts on 606 when making decisions regarding acceptability on here.

My framework -

1. I do not want to do any modding on here if possible!
2. There were a few posters on 606 who could wind people up without greatly contributing to discussions, please give them a fresh start on here but if they continue with their old habits then I will deal with them through my special powers! Don't worry.
3. At present this seems to be a male dominated site and I will mod it that way (note - this is not a porn site), if some ladies join in future then this may change if requested. If anybody is of the female gender please let me know
4. This is a discussion site and direct personal abuse is never part of a discussion. The most practical value of philosophy is that it teaches how to argue more effectively and how to evaluate the arguments of others. From a philosophical perspective, the goal of an argument is not simply to persuade another, but rather to find the truth. That is why “logic,” the study of argumentation and reasoning, is different from “rhetoric,” the study of persuasion.
5. This site is to be enjoyed by EVERYBODY so please try to make friends rather than enemies; we are all Addicks after all.

Totally agree AllHell, we all need to remember self moderation is the best form of moderation

It is very easy to turn the site into a free for all, however, every post & article in its appropriate place.
What I mean by that is, many of us may very well access this site in front of families, bosses - not forgetting younger members may access this board.

On the Gills board for example, I would prefer people to use the the letters NSFW (not suitable for work), if a thread is created that is not suitable for accessing in front of the above mentioned.

People will do, what they want to do, however, I personally will certainly be remembering the above, regardless of who's board I visit.
