BREAKING: Companies House issue compulsory strike-off notice for Leyton Orient Football Club Limited. Either they file accounts immediately, or the company will be shut down.
I still think they'll have a bit of grace. But the National League will want assurances they can fulfil fixtures before admitting them to their league.
I hate to see any club go and hope they find a way out of it. I remember when we were in the **** and donating money I couldn't afford to help pay players wages. Wether it's right or wrong, people can feel an awful lot for their club and to see it disappear... It doesn't bare thinking about.
Usually these things get posted in the London Gazette and then you still have time to rectify the situation. I used to have a client that was the freehold to a block of flats. The directors were all the owners of the leasehold flats. One year, despite numerous attempts to contact them through various means, we never received the records and therefore the company was dissolved (with the freehold becoming property of the crown). Got a somewhat irate call from one of the flat owners a month or so later. Cost them a few thousand to get the company put back on the register. Having said all of this, it sounds like the owners of Orient are in the same mould as the current Hartlepool owner.
Now there's a thought, when will the players start going round the pitch throwing money to the poor supporters in the crowd?
According to Companies House the Leyton Orient 'Strike-off' notice takes effect 30th May so they still have a few days to comply. Although it's long bank holiday week-end and nowt will get done until now until Tuesday, which is the 30th. But I'm sure the owner passed a 'fit & proper' test or whatever equivalent the football league has to check owners.
The Dai's were classed as OK - it was one of their associates that failed the test in City's case. I assume said associate is not involved at Reading. edit: or he's been well hid
They failed because Dai Yongee claimed the funding was coming from someone other than him and the PL found out that wasn't the case.
Hasn't the owner simply gone AWOL? If so how they effectively run it in his absence? They sound ****ed to me.
That's what I understand as well. Then it's up to the other directors (if there are any) to decide on the best course of action.
Remember the Orient for a fiver documentary. They were right in the **** then until Barry Hearn came along. Sad to see them in an even worse state now.
V sad, though the story of Hereford hopefully offers some hope to the fans of teams like this if it does all go south, as long as there are fans there will be a club to support
The Non-League Paper @NonLeaguePaper BREAKING: National League side Leyton Orient's winding-up petition has been dismissed with all creditors paid #LOFC
Remember staying at the Jarvis Hotel for my sister's wedding party in 2001 and Orient were staying there too before the play-off semi at the KC, we had breakfast at the same time as them
I am surprised that no from the east has bought them and demanded that the name be changed to Orient Express
