Is this just an increased contract so we can ask more when a prem team comes in for him in the January window?
I assume he is ready to stay with us and play for AN for another year. If you're right, ILD, then goldeneadie raises a good question: why would Olsson make it more difficult for himself to leave.
I don't know if that's good or bad. He's not really set the Championship alight, and he doesn't want to be here. He's thrown his toys out of his pram a few times. God know what we must have increased his wages to, because He wanted away when we were title contenders! What must we have paid him and promised him now we are in a relegation scrap!? The only thing I can think, is he's had written in a Release Clause to a top flight club.
Maybe just maybe there were no potential suitors and/or he got the best offer from us and decided to stay. Can't say I'm elated by this as he's not exactly pulling up trees, but he's not the weakest link in our squad so it's no bad thing either.
It might be a good ploy this. If a PL club does come knocking in January, his value will have increased by having a longer contract on board and that will cost a potential suitor a little bit more and will put cash in our bank to fund those new centre backs and strikers
I don't think any big clubs will be shopping at Carrow road unless they only have Brady's Euro 2016 DVD and haven't watched him for Norwich .
If they look at the stats of City with and without Pinto and Howson they may be interested in them. Easy to persuade them away too given the increasing unlikelihood of our PL return.
A ha! It's all becoming clearer. The club have passed their £15k fine for "unruly" behaviour on to Olsson, as it was "all" predominantly his fault, and he needs the extra year to repay them, at £288.46 new pence per week! http://www.teamtalk.com/news/unruly-norwich-hit-with-15000-fa-fine
Turner played for the U23's last night, I would put him way above Bassong and probably better than Martin!
Going back to his Hull days, and indeed, his first season with us, he appeared to be a very competent defender. But successive managers have apparently other ideas and he is only a shadow of his former self, or maybe just has no confidence because of the way he has been treated.
In which case, as Eric Clapton once said "Let it flow, let it flow, let it blossom let it grow" [461 Ocean Boulevard album ]
Not as a right-back though. People forget Martin is a RB. He never wanted to play CB. He had to cover, and now he's seen as someone who can play CB. So is put there. He always said to me, "I'm not a CB, I don't enjoy playing CB. If I'm told to play a position I'll play it and try my best" I'll always remember that.
In which case the fingers (once again) point at the inadequacies of our scouting and recruitment 'team' for forcing him to play in a role he wasn't comfortable with. Never mind, we've got Ricky Martin at the recruitment helm now, so all that will be a thing of the past
I've always really respected Russ. He has been slagged off so much. But so often he's playing in a position he knows he isn't a natural at. He's now having to play that for Scotland too now, coz he's been used there for Norwich. He just gets on with it, and tries his best. You never hear him moan to the press or moan after a game: "well I'm playing CB again.....And I'm not a CB..." He takes a lot of sh*t, and never rants at the manager or fans that boo him.
But I've heard various whinge-bags moaning "Gordon Strachan sees him as a CB so why don't Norwich fans"
