Leeds United and Bristol City boosted in pursuit of Exeter City wonderkid Ollie Watkins Both clubs are interested in the 21-year-old after a fine season saw him named the EFL's Young Player of the Year Bristol City and Leeds United have received a boost in their pursuit of Exeter wonderkid Ollie Watkins. please log in to view this image The two clubs are interested in signing the 21-year-old forward after a fine season at St James Park that has seen him named the EFL’s Young Player of the Year. And the race to sign the youngster looks to have narrowed to just two clubs, with reports that Derby County are not in the race to buy him. The Sun had reported that the Rams had tabled a £3m for Watkins. Watkins has forged a reputation as one of the brightest young players in English football and his 14 goals this season have been crucial in helping Exeter into the Sky Bet League Two play-offs. His progress has been so rapid that Watkins was reportedly watched by both Arsenal and Manchester United earlier in the season. While it looks as though he may be on the move this summer, Watkins’ first priority is helping Exeter into the play-off final, with the Grecians drawing the first leg of their tie at Carlisle 3-3 on Sunday. http://www.somersetlive.co.uk/sport...ristol-ollie-watkins-61975?service=responsive
Honestly worth paying the 3m if we have to... can this kid being a star and in the prem within the next few years.
we paid £2.5m for Engvall, so £3.5m for him would seem a reasonable sum to pay .. Engvall seems to be doing quite well out on loan !
Leeds United or Bristol City.... If it's true that only 2 clubs are looking at him which I seriously doubt, I wonder who he'll choose unless Bristols proximity to Exeter means an awful lot.
My only reservation is that this season we bought quite a few youngsters, which whilst on the face of it is a great philosophy for club sustainment , they struggled when things turned against us and they couldn't cope. He sounds a great prospect, but could that £3million be better spent on experience for right now rather than the future?
Born in Torquay and been with Exeter since he was 11, so Geogreaphically is good. Just the sort of attacking midfielder we need. To be honest, despite living down here, very little is spoken about him. That said Exeters average attendance is about 3,500. They have 20,000 tickets for Wembley first come first served. Not sure what he would be like in the Championship but clearly has potential
