Possibly. Stephens did fine though. Where we were poor defensively, we were poor collectively. And mostly we weren't that bad against a mobile, crisp passing Spurs attack.

 

I thought i read that Puel said in his pre-match interview, which would be before this twitter carp, that he might get a chance after the international break, meaning he wouldn't get his chance in this match anyway.

 

All game I kept thinking that we really miss Virgil.

 

Think he definitely will now, we've been conceding goals at a high rate since the heroics at anfield.

I still think that it's Stephen's shirt to lose, he hasn't made any glaring errors, but is still learning of course. Better for the long term to keep playing him imo.

 

I agree....you don't change a CB pairing without a sound reason. Strange thing about fans is that they moan about rotation, but then want to switch players as soon as they spot a mistake. Caceres will get his chance probably when we are playing 3 games a week in April.

 

A lot of problems, in the first half yesterday, were caused by weak headed clearances falling into dangerous areas, allowing Spurs to regain possession and maintain pressure on the edge of the penalty area.

As much as I like Yoshida, he was the most culpable, in this regard.

 

Neither Yoshida nor Stephens are a Virgil. He has been a massive miss, but if wishes were horses, beggars would....etc.

 

Forster made some excellent saves............. for the first goal the scorer was not closed down on the edge of the area. Saints had some good chances but once again didn't take them. We should have a had yet another penalty....but in this department luck does not seem to be with us.......(Or you could say Referee or assistant error)

I'm one of the many that don't agree with that.........He has lacked some confidence I agree....but get the right players in front of him and he will be back to his best.

If he is on pay as you play, that's the most shrewd football deal ever.
There's us lot getting excited about us signing a quality footballer while Les sets up a pyramid scam.

He looks happy enough when training, so my guess is that at least part of his pay is guaranteed.
