Wrong country Gimps! didn't your Cambridge education cover geography? If you look down the High Road Tottenham you'll be sure to find one.
Yeah, he's worked wonders with Theo Walcott, Aaron Ramsey and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain. They're all nailed on first teamers who are pulling up trees, fair play. Any other myths you'd like to trip out while you're here because Arsene Wenger's record is no better, and in most cases far worse, than anyone else in the premier league?
How many recent though? Fwiw I agree that he has been both a brilliant coach and manager over the years. Was quite a while ago now though and seems to have lost the plot completely. His biggest enemy is his own stubborness imo. P.s. good to see another Saint on this board
The daft thing in all this is a like Arsene Wenger a great deal more than I like Jose Mourinho but the fact is he isn't more successful and he doesn't find and promote young players and hasn't for many years. It's bollocks.
Viera Ljungberg Adebayor Anelka Kolo Toure Cole Van Persie Fabregas Clichy Nasri I'm sure that there are more and Henry himself credits Wenger for making him World class.
You are mistaking my original comment, I'm saying that Wenger is better at coaching players than Mourinho, nothing more.
Plus his teams play wonderful flowing, passing football rather than functional, get the result at any cost stuff.
Two things of great significance here; One is that, bar Cole, he bought every single one of them. and two, as I have been saying throughout, is that none of them were 'discovered' in the last decade, or thereabouts. The most recent was Samir Nasri. Wenger discovered him after he had played 120 games for Marseille! You do realise the French league isn't some third world backwater? By your definition Jose Mourinho discovered Eric Bailly, right? As for there being more, I would say there are even more who have been utter gash.
I was about to make exactly the same point! Wenger has stood on the shoulders of giants, and was very fortunate to have very good scouts at his club.
Again, you are getting hung up on the buying aspect, all of those players were in their teens early 20s and he coached them into much better players. Even you can't deny that Wenger's teams have produced some of the purest football in the PL in the last 20 years.
I cannot speak for every player that Wenger has bought, but I can comment on a few. Campbell - he was already the best CB in the country, when he stitched us up and went to Arsenal, to become the most hated footballer in the history of London football. Walnut and OXO - I saw them both play for Saints (when I was a season ticket holder), and it was already clear that these kids had the talent to thrive in the Prem at the highest level. All Wenger did was exactly what any other Prem manager would have done, and the outcome would have been exactly the same. I'm sure that much could be said for every other youngster that Wenger bought. Also, could someone please do a list of all the donkeys he bought? I'm sure that there are quite a few.
