    I'd say the opposite. She's supposed to be reasonably attractive despite everything, the Swedish version could pass as a bloke:

    I just finished Elmore Leonard's 'Road Dogs' - great crime thriller.

    Next up:
    'The Life and Music of Townes Van Zandt';
    'Born Fi' Dead' (Yardie gangs in New York);
    'L.A. Stories' (Ry Cooder);
    'This Wheel's on Fire: And the Story of the Band' (Levon Helm);
    and John Lanchester's novel - 'Capital'.

    I'm currently reading the Harry Bosch books in order by Michael Connolly - going through a phase of sticking with a character and reading them all

    Just finished reading my one book this year. "Escape From Camp 14". The story of the only person to escape from this notorious N. Korean hellhole.

    The 'Harry Bosch' books are brilliant, but Connelly's other books are pretty good, too.

    I fancied that, as North Korea fascinates me, but he has since recanted some of the things that happened, so i dont know if i can take it as being completely accurate.....although we know that 95% of it will be

    I've just finished that Lonesome Dove series by Larry McMurtry, very entertaining. I also liked the Amitav Ghosh trilogy, same sort of thing but the historical detail was more interesting (to me, anyway).

    I'm reading The King of the World: Muhammad Ali and the Rise of an American Hero by David Remnick

    it covers the period from the Olympics to his second fight with Liston

    Superb read and fascinating background detail on the involvement of the Mafia in boxing as well as the Nation of Islam / Malcolm X around Ali

    recommended 4.5 stars

    Just finished "The French and Indian Wars" by Edward Hamilton.
    Now reading a biography of Mozart written by Paul Johnson, a short and delightful read.
    I have "Stephen and Matilda: The Civil War of 1139-53" in the hopper. Who doesn't like to read 12th century English history?

    Bump.

    We have a where you going on holiday thread, this one needs to be with it.

    Going away for a long weekend early tomorrow, taking 1971 never a dull moment by David Hepworth. A book about the music released that year and the culture that went with it.

    Glad this has been resurrected as I have been struggling to find something decent to read and there are some interesting titles on this page alone.

    Not holiday reading, but I've just read 'The Cathars' (Sean Martin). 13th Century in the Pays d'Oc and over the border in Spain. Rome launched the Albigensian Crusade against them; the Inquisition was invented to deal with them.

    I concur with the good Dr Stanley O'Google.....The late great Elmore Leonard wrote some classics, and Michael Connolly isn't far behind.
    Always recommend 'The Magus' by John Fowles as probably the best novel I've ever read.
