Rosberg needs to win really, it's all fallen apart since Spain. Almost two wins ahead and now behind in points. I expect Rosberg to win so he'll be back in front.
Unless Lewis has a car problem he'll win every race until he's WDC again, and even if he has a car problem I still think he'll have a chance of winning. So... Lewis all the way for me for this race. The only thing I hope for is a better race behind him this time, last few races have been pretty poor, lets hope for some on tract action.
I've gone Hamilton but think Rosberg might do it tbh. Think Lewis is due an unfocused weekend - too much good nightlife in Germany!
I've gone Rosberg. I think home race (inasmuch as any race is his home race) advantage and motivation might just tip the balance for him. I hope he doesn't win though. He's a very annoying winner.
It irks me how someone who has never lived in the country can be German? Not that bothered but a little bit weird. Do Germans see him as a normal German competitor? I compare it to the Chris Froome situation - although his achievements are amazing feats he doesn't really get the plaudits of a true brit like wiggins because in reality he's Kenyan.
As someone with a complex ancestral history and migrant youth, I can tell you that you will meet a significant number of people who will consider you one of their own and some who definitely will not. Rosberg has a German passport though and that does provide an anchor to a country.
I can understand your perspective, Quagmireuk (especially with the 'uk' suffix to your moniker!); but one of the things about international sport is that for those at the top who travel the globe in pursuit of a chosen profession, the meaning of nationality can become little more than a flag-waving exercise to satiate the masses and media of a country to which one senses one's greatest obligation – albeit based upon some right to hold its passport.
I'm not sure I see anyone coming close to the Mercs here... AGAIN.. Redbulls may not be best of the rest here either, the Ferrari's extra grunt may help negate the less effective chassis here.. I do hope we see the continued improvement of McHonda, who had decent race pace at Silverstone and again in Hungary, to totally different tracks. I wouldn't be surprised to see them finish 4th, 5th at worst in the constructors this year, obviously Honda engine reliability permitting! With the long parabolic straight, they're should be decent opportunities to pass here, unlike Hungary... Should be a good race.. I hope so!
That'd be Alonso's ideal scenario, the Mercs hit each other again, take each other out, both get sacked and we him as a 3 time World Champion by Abu Dhabi!
I'm half expecting Mercedes to take a PU penalty for Hamilton here. It's an OK track for overtaking and it lets Rosberg win his 'home' gp
