    Vegans, feminists and ****ing hipsters.

Always think they know everything... the men generally look like the typical beta-male and the women generally look like they've been booted through oxfam.

Permanently offended by everything and spend their days lurking around social groups looking for the next petition to sign.

I find that most vegetarians don't preach about it or denigrate those who eat meat. Mrs Plug is not vegetarian and will eat whatever she wants and it doesn't bother me. If meat eaters keep on about us being omnivores and have to eat meat, I politely point out that omnivore means that you can eat anything, not you have to eat everything.

I was a vegetarian for about ten years.

I met a mate at Glastonbury in 1989 and he challenged me to be veggie for the whole weekend and produced this packet of stuff called tvp from which he made tasteless 'sausages'.
It worked anyway, I stuck with it and ate veggie burgers and falafels the whole time. Also drank bucket loads of scrumpy which I'm not sure if it was veggie but what you don't know won't hurt you, eh? It helped that I was/am a massive Smiths fan so that was that, meat was murder for the next ten years.

Until boxing day 1999 that is, when I waked in from being out all day and got stuck into the turkey carcass and the sausages. Haven't looked back since. Had my first bacon buttie in ten years to cure the hangover the very next morning.

I imagine that's what Chris Martin did the minuted he'd ****ed Gwynneth off.

Are you insinuating that Mo Farah lies to us <grr>. In all seriousness, it is tasteless, but a healthy way to have Chilli or Bolognese where the flavour is cooked in. Most meat mince is rank anyway.

I would be worried about most processed meat products to be honest. I think the only way you can guarantee the quality is to mince or chop it yourself with fresh meat from the butcher. Even then you would need to know the origin. McDonalds say they use 100% beef in their burgers, they just don't which bits they use

    It's mainly mechanically recovered meat.

'Mechanically recovered beef burger and fries. Only £1.99 '. I don't think marketing would approve that for an advert somehow, although there are probably tens of thousands who would think it must be OK

    I agree.

I'm just railing against 'holier than thou' veggies and vegans. Like I say, I couldn't give a toss whether somebody eats meat or not. Just don't bend my ear hole about it.

Yes those types give all non-meateaters a bad name, but there are those from the Carrnivores Liberation Front who are just as bad. The Peoples Popular Front for the Liberation of Carnivores is even worse

Surely you mean the Popular Peoples Front for the Liberation of Carnivores?

Actually, like Paul above, in my experience it is the incredulous looks most veggies get from Carnivores that is the bigger issue. I know many vegetarians and for all that I know it is a personal thing what they eat and none try to convert meat eaters. Carnivores are very different, from my Dad's " I'll look away if you want a piece of chicken" to friends who claim "you are a pain in the arse in restaurants" cause we want more that just Veg Lasagne as an option, to the "how can you give up Steak, you'll waste away" brigade. I reintroduced fish into my diet, so can't call myself veggie anymore, but I've never met the veggies and vegans you speak of. Heard them spoken about from meat eaters though.

I've run into plenty of them, my youngest son included. Although thankfully, he's not quite as 'religious' about it as he was.

As I say, I couldn't give a toss. They're just a bit of a pain when you're cooking for a group of people and have to do something different for them.
