Trio considered for Wolves role Football please log in to view this image Pat Murphy BBC Midlands football reporter Posted at12:41 Nigel Pearson, Sam Allardyce and Paul Lambert are among the candidates being considered by Wolves for the manager's job, as they look to an experienced British replacement for Walter Zenga, who only lasted 87 days in the job. I understand Pearson has already been interviewed. He is available after leaving Derby three weeks ago after falling out with the owner Mel Morris. Lambert and Allardyce are also out of work and therefore attractive to Wolves in terms of a lack of compensation - but it's a moot point whether Allardyce would go from the England job to a club near the bottom of the Championship table in the space of a month, when other Premier League options may soon be attracting him. please log in to view this image Getty Images Share Share this post on Twitter Facebook Read more about these links.
... anyone else remember when Mark McGhee left us to manage that 'bigger' club? ... another salutory reminder of just how far we have come
As much as I like him for setting us up where we are now, I'd love to see him have a similar experience as he did at Derby. I know too many Wolves fans who seem to think they've got some divine right to be in the Premier league, the old 'we belong there' attitude, that it gives me immense satisfaction to see them floundering where they are now. The Dean Saunders appointment was a master stroke I thought.
Because I too am grateful for the job he did for us, I'd like to see him go somewhere I can genuinely wish him well. Wolves isn't it.
Whoever takes big sam is taking a big risk imo ... plenty of free promotion, but its not all going to be good ...
Sunderland could do worse than taking Nige and the relegation and starting again IMO. The way they keep hiring short term, staying up and struggling again isn't a very long term plan
Lot of opposition from Wolves fans regarding Pearson, they all think he's too unstable. Think working without Walsh and Shakespeare doesn't help either.
I meant Big Sam back to Sunderland but forgot to add the quote...but they could do worse than Pearson agreed. They haven't lookedlike they've got a plan, let alone a long term one for a few seasons now.
