To pursue business interests outside of the media. Let the rumour mill commence. I'm hoping he's putting a consortium together to buy Short out!
We can but hope but if he does let's hope he brings in a hard nosed businessman with football nous as CEO.
Don't think his 'business interests' went that well when he left us which is why he ended up at Sky. Wasn't it IT or telecoms or something.
Quinny made a lot of coin out of race horses. Buying yearlings, fetching them on & flogging them at 2-3 year olds. He mentions it in his autobiography.
At the risk of abuse, he found us a consortium that went bust and a multi billionaire who's ran the club into the ground racking up massive debts, whilst taking us down. He can steer well clear of any more consortiums thanks very much!
We can only hope, someone who genuinely loves the club , supporters and local area. We can but dream, this would be brilliant. As long as he doesn't appoint himself manager, he can bring Keane back
Agreed, I like the guy as a person and I'd like him to be involved with the club in some way but when it comes to running the club thanks but no thanks Niall.
Totally agree, sold the club on a golf course to a rodeo lover that had zero interest in UK football. He sold the club on the mans wealth and then flipped out totally leaving a debt scraper and a man that hadn't a clue.. Oh yes, I will remember Niall but maybe not like you lads do..
I'll remember him as a great player for us, but a ****ing plant pot thereafter. I know Drumaville were hit by the recession so that's partially blameless but as you say, Short, his entire background was in dismantling and asset stripping businesses to make money. He's held the club to ransom and made a sale very difficult indeed and as such we are stuck with him and his complete lack of interest in the clubs success. Whilst I wouldn't directly blame Niall for that I certainly wouldn't want him involved in yet another ****ing car crash for the club. A fan buy out would be the dream but it's simply not sustainable for a club of our size and running cost.
