After the Newcastle game, ( we needed that out the way ) we host Rotherham in a criticial four game spell which I think will go a long way to determining our season. 3 of the 4 are at home. Rotherham at this very early stage appear doomed. Warnock did miracles last year, but they appear this years Blackpool / Bolton. Anything less than 3 points from this and we'd really have to start looking our shoulder frankly. You would HAVE to say the following four are going to improve this season - Villa / Cardiff under Warnock / Derby and Wolves have a bottomless pit of £££ to get yet more come Jan. However, this fixture coincides with us finally getting some players back. In theory, we should have Bishop, Williams and McGoldrick for this game. These three are critical to us doing anything this season. I'll say an improved performance, a struggle at times and a 3-1 win. Better, but vs very poor opposition. Thoughts?
Couple of suggestions for the title of this thread(the present one lacking any wit or imagination,a bit like our style under McCarty ) Will Town grind down the Millers? Will Mick finally get his Jackett? I'll be there on Saturday without any great expectation of being entertained for my money, tick tock, tick tock.......
Jonny, I would have to say SHOULD we lose this, and perhaps lose to Wednesday too then Evans would really have to think about what he'd like to do re Mick. However, it would be nice if we could string 10/12 from 3 home games + Wendy away and be having a different conversation but lets see.
Really no excuses left if we don't win this one with a good performance, having said that I went to Rotherham last season and we won 5 - 2 with a Murphy hat trick thrown in, in the return match they turned us over at PR with Warnock in charge.
We need the 3 desperately, just our luck to come up against a side with a new sodding manager. Couple that with Peter Odemwingie as a nw signing and it makes a rather obvious 1-0 loss on the cards. I think he'll line up - ( apparently both full backs could be out, this may be a blessing ) Bart Emmanuel Berra Webster Kenlock Skuse Douglas Lawrence Sears McGoldrick ( off Best ) Best That would in theory allow three attacking players to come on - Bishop, Williams, Ward. All of a sudden we'd have ammunition from the bench, and a relatively strong line up. Sure, I'd rather Bishop start for Douglas and us really have a crack but I don't think Mick will do that. Be the same system, 4-2-3-1 in Mick's eyes, 7-3-1 in yours and mine. With the above, Bru and Grant wouldn't even get a minute. Not that Grant's first half at Newcastle makes me sad in this regard. His first half display was 3/10, as for Bru his " performance " at Brentford earlier in the season is potentially the worst 20 or so minute CM performance I can recall in my entire time watching Town live (2003 onwards ) Pivitol game this. Lose, and Spanish, everyone, I or anyone else defending Mick prior to Sheffield Wednesday I would say needs sectioning under the mental health act. It's absolutely must win.
Leon Best is out because......(and get this!)...He has a dislocated finger!....WTF is the matter with these pussies these days.......
Mick's expectations for tomorrow,as reported on the BBC News website: "It really will be a bit of a siege mentality, backs to the wall, don't concede, be hard to beat and you always get a chance to score." Yep,that sounds like most of the Town performances I've seen this Season (barring an aberration on the opening day!) Oh wait, that's what he's expecting from Rotherham tomorrow, not us!Does that mean we'll be throwing the kitchen sink at them?Hmm,we'll see!
They've lost their last 7 new manager and new striker Teams never lose 8 in a row or the same for wins! Just unheard of!
According to someone on TWTD who is supposedly reliable with everything ITFC, we're lining up like this today - Bart Chambers Webster Berra Kenlock Skuse Bishop Lawrence Sears McGoldrick Best I guess time will tell ! Either way, for the first time this season we do have options and plenty of talent going forward. Absolutely must win this. COYFB!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone going!?
Well, this is the most attacking line-up for weeks.....months even. Welcome back to the starting line, Didsy! 3-1....fast, furious, pace, loads of shots and we come away saying, hey we have a team playing football! Ha ha!
